corsa temp

Post by 72allday »

I have a corsa bore that seems to run cold, I got a max temp of 290 ish. My plug is not wet, itÔÇÖs a light brown color.
It idles fine, and pulls pretty good. I tried running 112 main and it bogs at WOT, and 114 runs perfect. I lowered the needle one notch and that helped a little. Then tried another notch and it would run like crap. So I raised the needle back up one. I know I need to be in the mid 300ÔÇÖs.
Setup- corsa,
pg long,
26 polini 114 main/40 pilot /2nd notch from top
1500 center spring,
5g weights,
red clutch springs.
I know itÔÇÖs a good thing its running cool, but I know I should be higher, has anyone run into this problem?

That intresting, a 114 on that big of a carb to make 290 a wot temp is pretty inpressive. Do you have a tach and what temp gauge? Maybe your not revving it out, therefor not making as much heat? Idk im spit balling.

Also it may help to know the pipe, intake, and trans info like gears.

How long does it take to get to 290 after opening it up from a chilled down idle?

When I had my corsa my cruising temps were around 300 and highs mid 300s. With my new malossi cast bore It runs cool almost to cool at times as it seems it likes certain temps to produce power. Good thing it sounds like she's sealed up nicely can't explain the cool issue though sorry. Be good to know rpms top speed to make sure your using it to its full potential.

What if the carb isnt the size you think it is? I ordered a 23 and for the longest time was wondering why my jets where small on my kit because I thought I had a 21mm. So maybe you got the wrong carb or threw the wrong one on???

If it's running well and it sounds like he's pretty darn close to dialed in. I'd almost have to agree with G9. Any way to try another one? For as cheap as they are I'd get another one and see. * of lot cheaper than a new bore if it is reading wrong

Greetings:

^+2. Unless you have some super-magic cooling fan or your top speed is like 40, the Corsa should at least hit 300. Or maybe all the rest of us have air leaks?

The air filter and exhaust are a major factor on jetting. Intake tract window porting and matching the boost port effect it equally as well.
I'm running 50/142 jetting on a 26mm polini with big polini Evo filter, c16, vforce3, ported s6 intake, max race ported corsa, and extreme race ported cases.
My set up is for high rpm track racing.
I'd get a better flowing air filter.
