You can use an oil pump plug on that motor.
Re: Best bang for th buck with SE50 for more MPH.
I've put pump plugs in 2 of my af05e motors, 1 an 87 aero motor and one an 88 sa50 motor. I'm not sure if the 87 se50 block is different, I've never had that particular block.

Greetings:
I forget if the plug I got was "generic" or specific for the AF05, but I too plugged my variated 05s - one from an '87 Aero and the other from an '86 JDM DJ-1 scooter.

Re: Best bang for th buck with SE50 for more MPH.
Can I do what was suggested and just shade the teeth off of the gear and cap the hoses so there is no air leak? Seems easy enough...
Re: Best bang for th buck with SE50 for more MPH.
I don't see why not. I think there's a write up on it in wikispreedia. As long as the pump isnt turning it should be fine. But you should be able to find a plug for it.

Re: Best bang for th buck with SE50 for more MPH.
So I've got her all back together... right before I did the tear down and rebuild it kind of tanked on me... lost all top end power struggled to run at maybe 25mph... so I thought hey, must have run too lean (I put a new air filter on my polini without the rain gaurd) and ruined it... good time for the new bore kit.
Now I have the new bore installed did 8-10 hear cycles (more like 8, I was excited to get going). Jetted at 36 and 104. Seems to feel the same as before, decent low end but no top end... 25 mph tops and anything more than 1/2 throttle tries to kill her... not really but it bogs a lot so I don't bother trying more as I don't want to burn anything up!
Before all of this it ran great for right at 2k miles everyday as a commuter.
Any tips where to check first?

Possible clogged muffler or bad belt?

Re: Best bang for th buck with SE50 for more MPH.
Temps are vital. Without a gauge youre just flying blind. Even if you were lucky enough to get it dialed without a CHT gauge, its still always good to keep an eye on temps while cruising WFO or climbing them long hills. But what do I know? Ive been told I don't know w/tf Im doing...
I need to find some new haters...the ones I have are starting to like me.

Look for airleaks, look at the head, base gasket, are you running stock oil pump?

Even after the heat cycles u need to run a full tank going easy. Never go over 3/4 throttle or keep it at a throttle position for long periods during that tank. Air leak might also be a possibility try checking the crank seals

Re: Best bang for th buck with SE50 for more MPH.
Thanks for all the suggestions. Muffler is good, belt is good. I've been using a temp gun and it shows temps are in the 260-280 at the highest. I have 5.5 gram rollers in the polini variator too if that could be an issue at all.
I'll check vacuum and fuel lines and start bringing the jetting down and see how it goes.

Dude! You've met me in person a few times G9... you're probably right... on BOTH accounts! 220lb men have no business riding a spree as a daily driver! But that won't stop me, it's just way too fun! Haha! I just need some time to bring it down and see how it goes.
Re: Best bang for th buck with SE50 for more MPH.
I weighed 160lb and im 5'10 and the spree feels to small.
