99 Elite fork dio fork swap

Post by coppah37 »

I found a dio fork and stem on Craigslist and was wondering if this would be a bolt on swap on my 99 elite. I'm guessing it would be a cheaper alternative to disc brakes than the stem that scooter swap shop is selling. Any one ever done this?

Those parts do not bolt-on to an elite. You have to cut and weld to make it work. The bolt-on stem from SSS is the way to go. :thumbwink:
I did a swap a couple years ago using a metro stem but then changed it to a dio stem later on...........viewtopic.php?f=16&t=30861

Yes, it's possible bolt on for the elite "E", spree and also for the se50, but I was answering his question only to the '99 elite.

Spree is not bolt on. The sprees stem is super super short.

I saw this and it's pretty much bolt-on. imo viewtopic.php?f=4&t=34054
But let's not get into a discussion not related to this persons original topic.

Oh yeah bare bars is no issues, but running the stock headset takes shortening the stem

Yes you are right. I have never done a spree. That's too small of a scoot for me.

I know this is unrelated to the OP's topic but the Met stem fits on the 87' SE50 frame. The stem itself needs no modification as far as height, thread locations, etc....even the hole for the handlebar lock is in the correct spot.

The only things needed to make it fit is to swap the lower bearing race from the stock SE50 stem, some trimming of the inner fender plastic and cut off the "stop pegs" for the turn radius and add a bolt as R1Titan911 did HERE: http://www.hondaspree.net/phpBB3/viewto ... &start=150
I need to find some new haters...the ones I have are starting to like me.
