NCY Exhaust Jetting AF16

Post by nateberrier »

I have an otherwise stock bike, grabbed an NCY pipe for it. I was curious if anyone has run the same thing and could give me a ballpark for jetting. Stock is 78. Someone said to go to 95 and work my way down but that seems like it might be a bit much lmao. I know that nobody can give me an exact number but yeah.

Also if anyone has recommendations for keeping the stock airbox on that would be cool. this one keeps falling off and im just adding zipties

95 and down sounds like sound advice. The stock box will stay put if you use the mounting bolts for it. One on the bracket below the carb and the other bolt goes into the mounting point casted into the case at the rear.

I agree. start rich and work your way stoich. your engine will thank you. lol
with stock air box stock cylinder and aftermarket exhaust, 90-95 sounds like a good starting point. you said it has a 78 stock? was the original muffler a restricted version? if it was, taking out the restrictor washer would probably move jetting towards 85ish. then going to your ncy exhaust will probably move you up to 90ish. those are just rough estimates, but you get the drift of where im going, I hope.
id try a 95 and work down easier on motor than say, 82/85 and working up. make rich test passes, lean test passes could result in a soft seize or worse.

Let us know your progress and what jet you end up with. As more people buy these pipes, the question will be asked again.

78 is stock for the unrestricted motor. Someone ditched their restricted pipe on this bike. Someone on facebook said 84 is probably close for this combo, I put in an 88 just to be safe and its definitely not lean with that. I will try to jet this week. I was going to chop at 88 and if its rich go down from there, but i probably should focus on cleaning the carbon buildup out of the exhaust port first.

I never felt like I was getting anything more than noise out of this pipe, it could be my motor, but harleyracer and myself were talking. I think this pipe is probably just way too big for a stock bore. I also know that my crank seals are leaking a bit as well as probably having some left over carbon in my exhaust. I might try to fix both of those things this weekend, but more than likely were going to put a corsa on my buddies af16 and * enjoy this pipe while i plan a rebuild over winter

While on the topic of sport pipes...anyone know if theres any actual difference between these three BESIDES brand? Internals, tube diameter, material thickness, performance, etc...or is this just a generic mass produced pipe that anyone can slap a label on and sell as their own?

on the scooter works site it says the ncy pipe that they recommended nate should get was designed for a 50mm bore. that's most of the reason I thought that pipe was too big and not suited for his stock 39mm cylinder. id be interested to see the insides of these. by the outside shape. I don't see how they can be considered a performance pipe. theres no visual chamber or silencer. makes me think they look like stock mufflers inside. which would be terrible for performance

I traded it to a friend who had an MLM pipe. I ended up with a fabrizi that trafficjamz had on FB.

I have been thinking about getting another one just because its so much quieter

Ok. Thanks for the response. I ordered one last night cause I think my stock exhaust is plugged. Hoping it’s an improvement.

Ive heard they are pretty good. The engine I had it on had a bad crank and and low compression which was why I had bad experiences. I think youll see some power improvement unless your bore is worn out. Also if you had a restricted exhaust, check for soot in the exhaust port.

Yeah the motor has 9k on it and a lot of carbon in the exhaust port but good compression and bearings.

The problem I’m having is lots of blue smoke and no power. I’m hoping the problem is my stock exhaust is plugged up. The exhaust is really heavy.
