Aero 125 motor in 1986 nq50?

Post by tstodda »

I have access to a aero 125 motor and just about everything else but the frame, thinking about fitting the motor and drivetrain into the spree. Any ideas?

do you have welder or could you use one? heres then things you would have to do.
-weld a mounting bracket.
-rewire your own harness.
-Remove the sprees oil tank.
- afew other things but it should all be small stuff from there
if you think you can do that i would go for it. it sure as * would be cool. After all crazy stuff has been done before. ( 150 elite motor on a yamaha razz )

My advice is not to even try it! if you want speed spend some money on the right engine then learn how to build it.
Can't afford speed then stay away from it!

i have to agree. most of the bigger motors (anything bigger then a 50) can be way out done by the simple DIO motor if modded right. I still say go for it if you have the other motor already. but if the other motors like 150+$ i would look for a dio motor instead

As they say in the real world gents "there is no replacement for displacement." Never have truer words been spoken. Mod for mod a 125cc motor will walop a 50cc, period.

very true. but there is no real mods for the 125cc. if you could get parts for it i would agree. but theres allot more available for dio motors. everything from air filter to the crank can be bought after market. the 125cc might have way more power stock but has no mods that can be bought.

Any time someone is willing to shoehorn a bigger motor into a light frame I say do it. It would be a cool mod and you have something no one else does. Plus with gobs of torque the 125 will give you, you won├óÔé¼Ôäót need to mod it. A 125 will smoke an unrestricted dio any time and cruise at 65mph. Also isn├óÔé¼Ôäót it a 4 stroke? Much better than these temperamental 2 strokes. Gas and go....and go you will. DO IT!!! :D

EHHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHEMMMMM i know this s*** bud, out of everyone on this site i know the most about aeros since iv owned all 3, and had to f*** with there stubborn asses. all the honda elites past 50cc are 4 stroke, but the aero generation is a complete different beast, different everything, not one thing is interchangeable. the aeros only came in 2 strokes. the honda aero 50 was a 2 stroke, the honda aero 80 was a 2 stroke, and the honda aero 125 was a 2 stroke. the aero 125 engine is much better then the elites because you can mod them. also there alot faster stock. honda aero 50 can do 45 unrestricted with no part add ons, the aero 80 can do 60 with no add ons, and the 125 wot, unrestricted with a ported intake and drilled exhaust can do almost 80.

The Aero 125 (NH125) was similar in appearance to the 80 cc Aero/Lead mentioned previously but was capable of 60+ mph with a cruising speed of 50~55. I received an e-mail from Mark who says he reaches 65 mph on his 84 Aero with 8000 miles. The largest Honda scooter to have a two stroke motor , these scooters seem to be the rarest of the bunch. I think in the USA they were only sold for one model year. Also unrestricted Honda Aero 125s can reach speeds of 70-80mph.

do the swap!! If I had access to a 125 engine I'd have already done that swap! only thing you have to do is reinforce the frame a bit so it doesn't buckle.

Every time I see MySpree post in here, I seem to learn somethin new. I had an 86 Aero 50 last year, and it DID reach close to 55..., though the speedo didnt go that high.
