lighter inner pulley

Hi all, I swapped the lighter 84 pulley on my 86-engined 84 Spree. Slight increase in acceleration, Zero increase in top speed. The increase in acceleration is bareley noticeable; it makes the bike feel a little peppier, that's all. Not worth going out to look for an 84 drive face, but if you have one kicking around like I did, what the heck? put it on. Hope this helps!
well, heavier flywheels for trucks help for hillclimbing, as the revs don't drop as fast. A heavy flywheel is like a battery that stores kinetic energy, it takes a lot of energy to accelerate it hence the slow acceleration, but it stores that energy and helps maintain engine torque when a sudden load is experienced. That's why rock climbers often get heavier than stock flywheels put into their 4x4s, as high rev power and acceleration (as needed in road going sports cars) is not neccesary, but not bogging out your engine while climbing over rocks is. Perhaps Honda put the heaver flywheel in so our scooters wouldn't bog so easy on hills...
I still think they were just being cheap and running the same crankshaft for both variator (Elite SA) and non-variator (Spree, Elite SB?) models.

Spree's don't need a harmonic damper; the belt takes care of impacts, and the crank is counterbalanced.

No kiddin' mine bogs to 25 on slight hills and hits 28-31 on flat, because where I live there aren't really any true flats. They are always slight grades in one directon or the other.vette76 wrote:no other mods. 30 up hills 30 on flat. no difference.
