Ski-Doo Makes a turbo kit for some of their snowmobiles. Maybe you should checl into that and how it works, it doesn't make any sense to me but i have seen it. I am sure that on a 100 HP 3 cyl snowmobile engine spinning 14,000 rpm might be about to handle if it doesnt spool untill about 9,000. but who knows. This is an interesting topic.

you can turbo a 2 stroke... Snow mobiles get turbo'd all the time (not just the newer 4 stroke sleds) a buddy of mine just sold his turbo 90 something indy... the turbo is self contained (the oil) kind of like a procharger, but is exhaust fed. and the power of the turbo isnt necesarily comming from both valves closed, you would be moving more air into the combution chamber. and the heat... this could be reduced by running a small intercooler. it would look wierd, but it would work... next would be finding a cost effective very small self contained turbo (probably impossible) but the theory is plausible.

and sorry to resurect an old thread HAHA im going to pick up a 88 spree tonight and was just joking around in google seeing if this has ever been done, and this thread popped up.

To be a turbocharger it has to be driven by the exhaust. It is an exhaust driven superchager. A supercharge is any device which crams more air into you engine. A tubo is just a type of supercharger.

sorry about that, but no a turbo is nothing like a supercharger, trust me i have a F1A procharged (supercharger) on my 97 camaro SS and i just sold my 1993 plymouth Laser RS turbo... a supercharger is belt driven, whether it is a sintrifical style or roots style, a turbocharger is solely exhaust driven, and trust me they look nothing alike  also a turbo makes power more in the upper RPM and when it hits it hits, a supercharger builds boost instantaneously but builds more and more boost the higher in the RPM band you go.

Bear is 100% Correct :thumbwink:

A turbo IS a supercharger.

Turbo is short for turbo-supercharger :eyeroll:

A square is a rectangle too, but a square and a rectangle are not the same thing.

But to say "a square is nothing like a rectangle" doesn't make any sense.

Nice car BTW :hi:

no turbo is not short for turbosupercharger turbo is short for turbocharger yes both compress air and force them into the motor, but they are 2 differant designs... if youve ever had them all apart (which i have) they are totaly differant in every way.
