Air Filter

Post by hornet »

Ok, Now that I have my Elite running good, what aftermarket air filter do you all recommend?

It's a 1994 Elite 50S with a stock carburetor, about 28mm at the back end of the carb. It should have the ability to suck in a lot of air because my carb seems to really like a lot of fresh air.

Any recommendations? I don't want to spend a lot of money on one...seeings I'm only riding it for about 4 months in the year. Diosoljah and perhaps others have one that I have seen on several bikes/scooters. What is that one? Can you fellows give me some hints or info on where to buy and so forth?

Is this a decent one? http://www.earthscooters.com/49ccairfilter.html

The diameter he's refering to is the air intake diam. Carb's are spec'd by the throat diameter, which is smaller.

Any cone filter should work. I'd head to a independent cycle/scooter shop for these with a ruler, though, rather than buying online, unless you're sure it will fit.

Air Filter

Post by hornet »

Ok..got my air filter from bikebandit. It's a EMGO air filter, and it slipped right on the scooter. However the scooter was still getting a bit too much air, so I had to make a restrictor plate, and with a bit of tweaking to the carburetor, the scooter now runs great.

Here is a picture of it on my bike.

Thanks for the help fellows.
