Part numbers change for all kinds of reasons. Sometimes it's because some spec changes, and other times a new supplier is providing an identical part.
I guess I just don't understand why you don't get busy with your Dremel or whatever and grind that washer out of the S's header pipe. If you do that and run the 78 with an aftermarket Vario, you'll basically have a stock SR, which should handle WOT for 1.5 months.

Because you told me my stock S oil pump wouldn't provide enough oil for the SR exhaust and 78 jet with my aftermarket variator. And because I'm at work till 730 and because I just got my SR pipe and V8 pipe in the mail.Wheelman-111 wrote:Greetings:

Usually part number updates like this are because they have found another supplier producing a produce that either works as well or better and is cheaper. The identity of the driver for this test had to be kept secret.
This is how i drain the fuel, i dunno how you guys do it, but i just hook the vacuum pump up to the one line and drain the rest.
This is my catchcan setup, decided to take the fairings off so i could just use the stock oil line, for the first test i zip-tied my elite S oil pump wide open. For the second test i cut the zip tie on the road so it was "stock" and shut.
This was a test to find out how much oil the stock oil pump pumps when it is shut, when it is tied wide open, or if you were to put a split cable on the stock elite 01 elite S, the third test which i will conclude when i get the elite SR pump in the mail is when that pump is held wide open.
The scooter is a stock bore, stock carb, stock muffler (see my other tech thread, is my elite S exhaust de-restricted), stock gearing. Running an OKO variator with 9 gram weights, stock belt, stock rear pulley and clutch, and a 78 jet. I put the 78 jet in because i was partially worried that running the premix of 32:1 through the jet might lean out the mixture.
test one results - STOCK TIED OPEN
after putting 32 ounces of premix into the dry tank and riding 98% WOT for 17.25 miles i ran out of gas. I then measured the amount of oil in the catch can. Now there was some oil left in the catchcan and the glass but not much. Normally you might want to round down to the side of caution but it was about 12 cc of oil or .405 ounces per 1/4 gallon of premix used, or 1.62 ounces per gallon, or about 76.5:1 oil gas mixture.
test two results STOCK WITH OIL PUMP CLOSED
oddly enough the 32 ounces only got me 14 miles on this test and i rode the same exact course as the first test. As you can see i didn't take the picture straight on with the syringe because the flash kept screwing the pic up, it was about 7 cc of fluid or .236 ounce or .9464 ounces per gallon or 135:1 oil gas mixture
Either way you look at it, if wheelman's thoughts that 32:1 is a good ratio for a moded scoot, then you need to add about 2.38 ounces of oil to each gallon with the pump wired open to get 32:1. More results later next week for the SR pump.

Final results are in!!!
Elite SR oil pump with 32 ounces of premix with pump wired to full open with the index marks lined up yielded 18cc of oil or .608 ounce per 1/4 gallon or 2.4 ounce per gallon or 53.3:1 oil gas mix ratio.
Remember the elite S was only 135:1 or 76.5:1 with the pump tied open.
Wheelman is correct that the SR pump, pumps more. But from my testing it appears that if you wanted to keep the elite S pump and just put another ounce in per gallon you'ld have more lubrication than the SR, and remembering 1 ounce is a lot easier then .73 ounces more.
Also from my exhaust findings, it appears that all my scoots were de-restricted by their previous owners, and none of them had the oil pump wired open and they were all running the stock 68 jets and they have 1300, 4500 and 5700 miles on them. It appears that you can be stupid and run wrong jetting and far less oil and the scoot will hold up. Remember it is a honda. But to be safe, spend the $7 on a 78 jet, drill out the washer in the exhaust, wire the oil pump open and add an extra ounce of oil to each gallon and I think you'ld be safe.
