Face it Bear, you are only as old as you feel. You aren't really that old yet riding around on a scooter! I hope I am as energetic as you when I reach your age. :thumbwink:

I have a 90 year old neighbor that still rides. His only concession to his age is it is a Chinese trike now.

I agree, I know a 90 year old who still drives a 400hp 'Vette when he comes to town (rental).

Short drive to Burns, Tn. to find an '84 Spree with 507 miles showing. Owner claims parked in '86 and left unmolested until now. Advertised on CL for $250 obo. No title, ever. First thing I did was remove the shroud to find the crank seized. I advised the owner his $250 asking price was now more like $100 tops. He countered with a $125 offer and my better judgement, as well as lack of shop space, made it easy to say no, thank you. He was, however , willing to sell me the petcock cover. Took one minute to sell it and cover the cost of my gas out there. Not a bad day at all.

Mystic.....did you ever get the CL 100?........ :nervous:

The 400 SS is still in my garage, the son has negotiated a deal with a friend of his for a modest profit. Waiting for the word on that deal. Sold the Passport I had, the blue Express too. Taking my Elite 80 down to soccer trim for the experiment with Scooter Soccer this spring.

No i havent heard anything from the guy about it :( I will have one sooner or later just waiting for a really good deal :D heck I have the cb450 just waiting for me to tear apart and restore. I am just not keen on large heavy bikes. I dont feel like I am in control. I really want to restore the cmx250 rebel i have but have been unable to locate a complete rearend which mine is missing plus I took the valves out to repair my xr80 motor so it looks like i will be scrapping/selling the parts from it though the cylinders are in great shape. I may try to swap the cm400 engine i have into the 450 so i can do away with the points in preference of the cdi. not sure its all up in the air no plans to sell my 450 though. What about that 92 sa50 you were considering??

I chose to use the Elite since it doesn't have a title. Cant have any more in the shop now anyway. Spree parts bike is more likely next buy. Expected a call today that didn't come....IDK..... :hi:

super clean bike there man, is that the stock muffler? the only thing I dont like about the cl100 is the fact that the muffler is so far up under the leg. If and when i get one that will be hte first thing I change about it. The only reason i can think that they put it up like that is the fact that it was the scrambler version/dual sport to keep the muffler front getting dented or broken off jumping over logs or boulders lol I have the xr100 so i dont know why i am so hung up on the cl, i just prefer the 70s styling and heavy duty materials

Yeah, stock muffler....I'll need to install a bashplate but that still wont save it from getting squished. Should be easy to fab something to replace it and save the original back for the next guy. Some longer rear shocks...remove fenders, lights, etc...soft tires, I think it will do the job for a novice... ....I dont need to win anything, just need to experience the challenge.

That thing is too sweet to go bashing it aghainst rocks and wheeling over logs, i saw an enduro frame for cheap on CL you should get and just put your motor into then swap it back after you get done playing in the mud :D nothing to a dirtbike really just ignition, killswitch, coil and cdi. since you are going to use that I would strip everything off of it and get all plastic fenders and tank

this is what you need right here i knew i had a bookmark. i imagine it just needs a light hone on the cylinder and new piston and rings. the XR series is super easy to work on. 5 or 6 bolts and hte whole motor just drops out and this one is near you in fact. save the classic and get this beater :P
