Here's one that showed up in Milton, KY.
Of course I bought it.
Regretted selling the last one.
Pretty sure this bike was last used for a pit bike.
I can see white shoe polish on the front cover.
Common practice @ drag strips.
It sure is beat up like a pit bike.
You know what though,...I like a bike with history.

I also discovered a method by which I get my photos from my camera downsized by posting them on my facebook page, then saving those images into the "download" file on my laptop. Then, post those pix from downloads onto the board...not sure why I hadn't tried that before. I should probably create a thread for those other members who haven't figured it out yet....motor... :urban:

Many a moon has passed since I first saw the MB5.
It was 1982 and I thought, "pretty cool bike".
I've had 4 NS50f bikes in the last 10 years.
It has become painfully obvious that I am too old for the NS.
That's when I decided to sell the NS, and seek out a very nice MB5.
I would still be in the "Shifty 50" club, but it wouldn't be hurting to ride.
Several weeks of searching kept turning up RED bikes,
but I wanted BLACK. Thanks to facebook, an ideal MB5 is mentioned in the comments of a thread.
The rest is history. I had to trust that the seller was being truthful when he told me
that his MB5 was "museum quality". Skeptical, but I bought it anyway.
It arrived yesterday and my patience was rewarded with a "minty" black MB5.

Nice find! Looks cleaner than my red one, and that one is pretty cherry. I assume this means the mega NS50F ride for June 18 and 19 in Nashville is kaput?

Negative...ride is ON like Donkey Kong Vaughn.
I'll be leading the group on my Majesty, and m-a-y-b-e taking the MB out for city-thrashing after the rides.
And yes, this bike arrived in amazing original condition. I got lucky.
I will do a few things before I fire it off.
Then, I'll ride a few days to get a feel of the OEM status.
Then. I'll slam this HPI mini-rotor ignition it in give it a review.

Decided to go ahead and install the HPI ignition upgrade.
Took the MB5 to a trusted master mechanic last week.
I don't have the tools or space to do the work myself.
Hoping to get it back ready for the years rides.
Several events already planned for this bike.
Not many miles left in this old body, but
expecting Honda to fill my days with adventure.

mm,
I removed the front rack on my MB5 that I got from Treatland. I was carrying dog biscuits and cheeseburgers up there, but now I am just using a MOLLE bag on a crossbar. If you want the rack for free, with free shipping, PM me with your new mailing address. The is the rack I am talking about:

https://www.treatland.tv/MLM-honda-MB5- ... ck-971.htm

It mounts using the normal headlight side M8 bolts, and the M8 bolts that are on the clamps that hold on the front side reflectors. Very clever, no drilling or mounting hardware required. I think you could use it for carrying a small duffel or a lunch box on some of your adventure rides.

You can see the rack on my MB5 in this video:

You can also see the rack at about 22:14 in this next video:

Ya'know Vaughn, you and I are sole monitors of this thread.
I may need to re-title it to the "Mike and Vaughn" thread...
Hope you're well and have plenty of sunscreen.
I had to buy a snow shovel...blech.. :eyeroll:

MM, you might be right.. that box with your MB5 rack should have arrived on Saturday, but I see it is lost in the ether... Jacksonville on January 6, Memphis on January 8, Nashville on January 8, and then nothing since.. three days with no movement since January 8... Maybe snow is holding up the mail?

I woke up Sunday morning in Nashville, and ALL the snow was gone.
Now, Wednesday, and no package yet. Doesn't matter as the rack can be installed anytime.
Bike is still at the mechanic shop anyway. Maybe it will arrive before I go down there to take the parts
that DID arrive this week from California via FedEx. I bought Sava MC11's for tires.
They are pretty gummy. I know they won't last long on the street,
but they'll be great at first. I picked up carb O-ring set, HPI mini-rotor ignition set-up,
new reed petals, tires and tubes, and headlamp as mine was blown on low beam.
Fingers crossed the rack doesn't get lost in Nashville...I have absolutely no confidence in the US mail.

That red Aero 50 has similarities to my 1983 Flush. The luggage rack is almost like mine as I tried to copy the file photos.

The MB5 has come back ready to ride.
Have been out twice totaling about 60 miles with no disappointments.
The HPI ignition that I bought at Treatland has not been installed.
Seems the manufacturer has ceased putting a timing mark on the flywheel,
making installation a more difficult process. I complained to the supplier
who responded " sorry, that's just how it is now".
I have ordered a 15 tooth front sprocket to replace the OEM 13 tooth item.
My hope is to reduce the strain on the engine at full speed.
IDK really if any improvement will be forthcoming.
Happy trails to all of you out there, and safe travels...motor... :urban:
