Look what followed me home!

Had to make a nine hour, 378 mile trip over to South Haven to get the little begger. It`s a Vespa PX150, made in India by Piaggio/LML, with 1100 kilometers on her. Little bugger runs like a raped ape, but if my wallet heels up by winter, I`ll be doing a little elfin magic on her.
The paint needs a little touch up, but nothing too serious. Thinking about going a retro look for the seats, as well as a few custom goodies, but I think I`ll spend a summer riding her before I get nuts on the mods.
Feels good to be shifting again!

Thanx OBD for the share... :hi:...lookin' a treat... :thumbwink: ...like the spare/rack...
My Vespa nerve has never been tickled. If shifting were the point, there's already enough "cycles" out there.
I'm real happy with the separation of scooter/motorcycle classes by the difference in transmissions.
The whole twist-to-shift while clutching with the same hand never had any appeal to me. To have all three bikes around and ride them randomly keeps my brain a little confused and has caused some embarassing mishaps...ziiiinnnnngggggggg.
Then to get back on the scooter and grab the brake on the left trying to shift ....not pretty..Anyway, have a blast with the Vespa...they do offer some zippy scootin'... :urban:

Believe it or not, after going through the gears once, it becomes second nature. The rear brake on the foot board is like any motorcycle I`ve ever had, the front is like any two wheeled vehicle, it`s just the grip shift that`s different, but in a fun way.

I did notice that, when pushing the scoot back in the garage, it`s easy to put the bugger in gear when holding the left grip and pushing the rear rack with the right. Not a big thing, but there anyway.

Still hasn`t got my nose in the air yet, so I guess the snob effect doesn`t work on us humble types! :thumbwink:

.... :surprise: ....are you serious :?: ...you mean, there are people on Vespas that think they have more validity as a scooterist simply because they ride a Vespa :?: ...huh, imagine that... ....I've heard that mopedders can sometimes be slightly impolite too. I can tell by the finger they wave at me and their insults regarding my scooter as their voice fades behind me...hahahaha..... :urban:

Nice of you to still chat with the riff-raff on this forum . I like the looks as is but it would be fun to play around with mods.

I'd love to have a Vespa, maybe then I could get into the local country club.

I'm with Motormichael on the shifting. At my age there is too much memory in the motor senses, going back and forth screws me up - I've always wanted an Aero 125 but I'm afraid I would hit something looking for that brake pedal on the floor board.

Enjoy your new find - thanks for posting the pic.

Only time I ever got anything mixed up is after a few beers and going from a 50cc Benelli (one up, three down) to a `72 Electraglide (one down, three up). Only took once......

I think I`ll skip the country club. Never cared for golf. Coundn`t get my ball pasts that doggone windmill!

Just had to add a few pics of what I did to her through the summer. A little paint, some new tires, an a bunch of money sent to Germany for do-dads and now she`s personalized.
