There are a number of youtube videos already posted from the 2016 True Grits 50CC Fun Run. This one is a good one as it shows pretty much the entire entry field. I can recognize a couple of forum members in the lineup.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaiNr8ikOmI

There is one old geezer at about the 42 second mark with a bright red helmet. He kept getting lost at every turn.. hahahaha..

I think the winning driver walks in front of the camera at about the 1:36 mark, and his motorcycle appears at about 1:40.

How do the rs50s do? Are you allowed to run aftermarket 50cc bores and porting?
What bike won? Pretty neat!

Your questions are pretty much un-answerable.
The event is charity, supporting the community needs, such as the fire department and school needs,
It is NOT a race, NO winner, yet every entry is a winner...
You must really attend to understand the attraction...I will go back every year possible.
RS50 would do just fine, but would pull down a lot on the hills because it has no lower gearing on which to rely.

You can change your sprockets on the rs50 and they're 6 speeds. I've had my 01 up to 82 mph with no more road to go.
Next year is my touring year for rallys and events as I'm taking a break from building and porting everyone else's stuff and going to have some fun for a change.
I'd be interested in going out for fun and supporting some community folks. We have the crawl in Tennessee, super Sunday in cali, high rollers rally in Vegas, some ferry ride in Seattle, Daytona track weekend, Portland track weekends, Brooklyn NY track weekends, Detroit scooter group meet ups, North Carolina mslf ride, stl ride of the century, and mayhem here in denver scheduled. A lot of driving this next year. Thank God for 43 days of pto.

My bad...I was confusing your RS50 with the scooter I just had this year, the SR50 Aprilia.
Carry on...mm... :urban:

I sent in my entry yesterday for the 2017 True Grits run. I'm taking the MB5 again this year.

This year's event is Saturday, October 28th, 2017.

2017 True Grits brought rain and cold to Suches, Ga.
I attended, cheered on all riders who braved the elements, but I did not choose
to subject myself to the dangers of the conditions, especially that of getting sick from exposure.
One very surprising moment occurred when I met the guy below.
vintagegarage made an appearance, but he, too, chose to exit early and skip the ride.
I had a great time regardless, and found some time to ride solo on Friday.
Also, took in the sites in Helen, Ga.
Went on to Macon,Ga. Saturday and spent several fun days riding around there with a
great friend who rides a Kymco People. I took my 1977 Honda XL75.
My reservations are already placed for 2018 to make this 5 years attending.
If you want to join the fun, keep an eye on this thread for updates.

Grits 2018 was under much the same weather condition as last year, but I went with a commitment to ride regardless.
About 50 degrees and wet, with mist hanging and some light rain toward the end. Got to see some great friends from Atlanta Swoops gang. :hi:
Another fine man named Brent rode his 1975 CB125 from Columbus, Ga. to Suches, Ga. and camped overnight at T.W.O. lodge. Brent is a former Nashvillian friend who moved last Spring. He appears in the photo below as we prepare for the Saturday ride event. I'm sitting in the truck with the heat on. :thumbwink: I am very surprised that the planners have been stuck on so late in the year for this ride event, which has the potential to be a much larger and funner weekend if it were to take place only one month earlier. Rant over...peace out you riders... :urban: ...motor
