Ever ridden a Grom?

Anyone out there own or at had a chance to ride a Grom?

For some reason these things look super cool to me. I was just wondering if they are as much fun to ride as they look.

The Grom owners seem to like them.
There is a guy locally that has a handful of them...not sure why.
I didn't even give the Grom a second look when I bought my Sym Wolf.
I didn't need or want another small bike with "scooter" tires...the Wolf is 18" / 17" and carves the twisties with grace and agility.
The Grom promotional video being ridden by an Ace rider looks very exciting.
I would like to feel Grom one time to see what the thing does....but, of course, I'd ride anything once...

Not as much fun IMO. Not comfortable, and for being a mini motorcycle, the power isn't enough. It should have been a 175/200. I dig the look of them. Im 6'2", so maybe they are better for shorter people. It like riding a more akward sportbike. If you've ever ridden a GSXR/R6/1/ninja you'll know what I mean

I'm like 5'9" and the Gsxr's I've been on in the past were uncomfortable as can be, which is why I went CBR.


I'd like to ride one sometime. Seems like they have a lot of a/m support, and there are some bbk's and other parts available like turbos, but it's starting to get stupid expensive at that point.

To me they just look super cool, and the videos people make look like they would be even more fun than an mx bike.

The bars are wide, and they feel like they are in your chest. Most grom riders, are previous ruck riders. Most ruck riders don't care about comfort in any way shape or form . I did like the suspension/brakes. Its nice to ride something that's actually up to todays standards.

Oh, I traded my purple elite for a grom on one ride this summer, and the grom owner did not want to hand the keys back. if that says anything.

Hey do look like they have some pretty nice modern suspension and brakes on them. It would have been nice if they would have given them a little bit more go in order to be legal and fast enough for the hwy. But I guess it is what it is.

Which Wolf model do you have? All I can find on the US Site is the Classic, but I found a foreign site with a 125 and 150 that have the modern sport look kinda like the Grom but maybe a little bigger. That Ti250i looks cool also but if I was going to get a 250, I'd probably just get something in the 600cc range.

That disc is very effective...I like it...
The transmission has given no mechanical difficulty...however there is some difference from the way a Honda shifts.
The 1st to 2nd gate is the only complaint.
It will mis-shift and not get all the way into 2nd, but only when you tach it up to redline and try to power-shift.
That symptom has eased off with mileage and is smoother now after 4,000 miles.
Very good clutch too...pulls like butter.

Fun to ride ..archaic motor..and the typical ruckus crowd flocks towards them. If it had an interesting motor I'd buy one

We have a local group of about 30 or more Groms, they ride every Wednesday night, most of the riders are stunt riders who started out on the fiddys, moved to stunting big sport bikes, then all bought Groms for a change of pace.
The Groms cost about $3200 and require about $2500 in upgrades to make them stunt worthy. The 183/188 cc big bore kit seems to be the norm. Zeus Armor is cashing in big time with the Grom.
Luckily for me they don't care if the scooters ride along, they are a fun group of very good riders.

If you ask me, they look cool as shet.
It seems like it would be an awesome bike if they could stick something like a cr125 2-stoke engine (whixch would never happen) or even a crf250 engine it it. I'd still like to ride on to see what they are all about. I just don't know if spending $3000 on one of these is the best investment when you could spend the same money for something like a year or two old CBR250-300 , gw250, or even a little bit older SV650. I know they are a totally different animal, but you could get something that is fun yet fast enough to actually ride on the hwy.
