ET ISO

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

Seeking a 3rd scoot for Wheel-Boy, responded to a posting on The Book of Face Marketing for a "2003 Red Vespa" which the seller stated "runs Great!" Asking $1600. Not bad for an ET, which I presumed to be a 50cc. Called the seller and was told it's in 7/10 cosmetically, which was about right. Hooked up trailer, went for a look, found the kickstarter stripped. Then I noticed the ET4 150 badge on the glovebox lid. Deal got sweeter. Knocked off $100 for kickstarter repair and called me Lucky. For now it looks good standing about that far away, but will take some work with Color-Rite paint pen/brush to get where I want it to be. Already got the little clock working with AR42 button battery and replaced the horrible pitted chrome headlamp surround. Now in Turn Signal * - the switch is the suspect - to be able to pass inspection. And she's Mine.

Greetings:

Going through the ET4, known as "ISO" for the surprising 150cc displacement. Chronicled in Modern Vespa

The belt cover is WAYY more of a PIA to remove than beloved Honda's. This one is fragile, too, and it took over an hour to figure out multiple snags preventing removal without too much Leverage. Once off, it went back on without much of a struggle, and took it off a couple more times to check things, again without struggle. Kickstarter castles were rounded off, as I suspected. Kicker works perfectly and generally starts on the first try! Malossi variator was a VAST improvement on low-end. Haven't had a chance to determine new top speed - tires minted in 2006 - might wait for new Michelins.
