So im kinda a noob when it comes to any driving anything but an automatic. My fiance' taught me to drive a stick (a 86 deisel jetta, sucky) over the summer so I have some idea of how it works. Well latley I've been considering getting a motercycle when I get back from my alaska job. Now here's my question: How do you shift on a motorcycle?

Just like a car. Pull the clutch (left hand) push down the shifter for 1st (left foot) pull up for 2-3-4-etc. Use clutch each time. I actually learned to ride a MC b/f I learned to drive a car.

The MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) goes through this in class, which you should take if you want to cycle. Buying an offroad bike (or borrowing one) is a great way to learn both the controls and how to crash.

I also noticed a scooter that had the shifter on the left handlebar. Aka pull the clutch and twist back. I think it was on the vespa or GMS site.
