M.M.M. is d*** near dead.

Scooter clubs section. Not Honda-specific, but hey, you're here so you probably already own at least one. See board for posting details.

M.M.M. is d*** near dead.

Post by Dac »

Detroit crew- completely gone.

Founders- One of them sold all his bikes, and moved on. The other one
still rides, but alone.

Southwest Crew- Currently 15 members strong. Although its a small
group, we are all very close friends who get together and ride all the time.

Problem= No one really cares about the M.M.M.
There is no "ride dates" or "group rides", We just kinda hook up and ride
whenever. No one is pushing to make it a better group, because the group
dont matter. Even if there was no M.M.M., we would still get together and
ride.

Its kinda the reason no new stickers have been made. No one cares about the group.
I just thought i would post this up and let everyone know why the M.M.M. seems so
dead. Its because as a state wide group, we basically are....

Why should it be dead? There are still a ton of people around the D that wanna ride. It just seems to be impossible to get people together unless people commit to a ride at least once a month or something. Why not just schedule more rides? I'm kinda disappointed since now my ped runs great.
Always a work in progress.

Thats the thing, Someone has to start organizing that type of stuff.

Im not trying to dis on the creators, but if they did better the M.M.M. could be so much bigger right now. The M.M.M. there was just like it is in the southwest now. ( just a group of friends). They never organized rides.

Ic, well as with everything, you gotta commit to make it work. I'm by no means a member but I like to ride when my ped is running and am somewhat discouraged when I hear about people quitting clubs when times get tough. That's no way to go.
Always a work in progress.

Here's a surprise, as long as I can spit this out without making anyone angry - I started a Mid-Michigan branch this year. I've got 6 members so far including myself. All we do is take a nice sunny day (even if only 15 degrees) and we hit up the fast food restaurants and what not down in town. I need to start taking my camera and taking pictures of the bikes.

So far, I have:
Myself - 87 Elite SE50, Dio powered
Preston (room mate) 88 Elite E
Chris 84 Honda Spree
Nick 85 Honda Spree
Max 98 Honda Elite
Chad 87 Honda Spree, SE50 powered...
1994 BMW 525i 5 speed BEAMER TIME
1983 Yamaha XC 180 - Bought barn fresh in mint condition and 254 miles. Best bike I ever owned :)

geez, I wish I lived near you guys, there is NO ONE to ride with here that isn't a Vespa snob. I like Vespas, but the owners around hear think you're an idiot if you ride a Spree. Just wait until they see my DioSpree!!!

Anyway, even though I don't live in Michigan, it's sad to hear that the M.M.M. is stuggling a bit but cool to hear other people are starting their own clubs!

Yeah, Here in michigan the Moped Army is huge. But they are all moped elitist. Most of them hate scooters for no real reason. Thats kinda why the M.M.M. was started. A place for 50cc scooters where any brand could hang out.

Yeah. I'm working on pics. Nick has dropped - he sold his bike like an idiot. A four wheeler was more important. So only 5 members, and Max works quite a bit so he usually doen't have time to ride with us.

No name in particular, just going to get some of my own MMM tags for the bikes from Preston's uncle, he's got a vinyl cutter and like 10 different colors.

I'm in Holland - just picked up a 94 Elite that needs some work. I figure about 3 or 4 weeks and I'll be up for getting together depending on where in Southwest Michigan it is that you're located or get together.
