how to speed up an elite 94+ sa50 (dio)

Post by vette76 »

there are a few restrictions in this engine and trans, that dont allow the engine to reach its full speed.to get *35+ mph* out of a stock engine here are some easy things you need to do.

the restrictiors.

1. (exhaust) remove the exhaust and you will see a washer with a 1/4" hole welded into the headder flange. use a dremel, or step bit to drill this out to the 1" hole it is supposed to be.

2. (air intake) if using the stock air intake there are actually 2 air entrance holes. one of them is plugged. unplug this and the engine will breathe how it was meant to.(doing this requires a size 80 main jet available at your local honda dealership for $3. running engine too long without proper jet will cause a lean condition and burn the rings+piston up).*(combined with the exhaust 8mph)*

3. the stock variator, (speed pulley) located behind kickstart housing on the crankshaft has a plate held in place by 3, 7mm screws on the back that limits how high the trans. will shift up to limiting its speed. remove the pulley by using an impact gun and remove this plate from the back of the variator.. re install variator, and u will have gained *(5mph.)*

these are some cheap and easy ways to get more speed out of your scooter. for full blown performance parts visit www.vtcycles.com
