Just got a 1996 yamaha jog

Post by Trafficjamz »

My friend just picked up a 1996 yamaha jog for $400

He wants it to go very fast.

What parts should we buy for it?

Are there stroker kits for the jog?

I am new to the jogs and do not know where to start.

BBK, pipe, carb, vari... Similar to setting up a dio to race but the Minarelli has an even larger aftermarket. The Minarelli is a real rev happy engine. smaller carbs seem to work better on the Minarelli, more like 19-21 on this for a BBK. The best thing going for it is that you have a Japan made Jog, not a Taiwan made Jog. I don't know if it extends back to the Japan made Minarelli engines (I've never had a problem either way) but it is said that the Taiwan Minarelli engines need a crank replacement if you plan to run over 10k RPMs (race built engines can exceed 14k on a Minarelli).

it is not worth it to buy taiwan stroker jog kit, just like throw money in the drain!

Just add polini crank, corsa, small carb can use stock intake, and polini gear..

I have a 97 jog.

I run the 47mm race kit from here - http://www.strokeitimports.com/stroke%2 ... 20home.htm
The guy ported/polished it for me for about 30-40$ extra. Great work, awesome performance.
I also have the LeoVince ZX pipe, Jog 90 belt, Stock crank, 19mm arreche carb with a 95 main jet, unifilter.

I hit ~60mph+ (Havnt topped it out yet)

Is this pipe for a 1996 jog?

Is this pipe ok too loud for street use?

Looks like it. With out the part number I can't tell you 100% sure. If the sellers description is accurate, it is the correct pipe.

Not too loud for the street at all. It is a good budget pipe. Your top RPM will bump up higher and be more peaky than your stock motor. If you want a power increase with a broad power band, the Leo Vince TT is slightly cheaper than the ZX and is not as peaky.

dont mess with that pipe. get a good pipe for your jog. knowing you ,you will want it to go faster.that pipe will limit you to only 8.5hp max. thats with a top performance mid race kit. find yourself a yasuni c16,c20,c21 or stage6 pro or r1200 pipe. the yasuni with a mid race kit will make around 13hp.more than enough to go 70mph with a 70cc kit setup.
