My crazy razz

So a customer brought in a Razz that had been sitting. As i suspected, it only needed a carb clean and it was purring again. I put maybe .25 gal gas into it and rode it up and down the street.

Left the shop perfect, then came back again today because it wouldn't start. Custormer said that it wouldn't start - was leaking gas and then fell on it's side.

Here's what I think happened: HE had taken it home in his ford explorer on it's side and maybe left it in there for a while. THe air box filled up with gas, the exhaust filled up, obviously had a bad petcock, and everything was full of gas.

So i ave taken off the exhaust and decarbed it in fire. Replacing the air filter that desintigrated in the standing gas, but I still can't get the thing to start at all( not run well, just run for a sec)

Good spark, good compression, carb getting gas and clean. Exhaust off.

Any thoughts?

Take the head off the jug and flip the engine over for a while.....let it drain out.

If you have a case full of oil/gas you will know......the plug will be covered in oil/gas.

A few cranks and the plug is wet.

I fear I will have to put in some time on this one.

you can pull the head off and just siphon the gas/oil out with a with a hose or fuel line, i did that on my razz and it worked like a charm

Or you can try taking the plug out aand kicking it over a few times

good suggestion but that only works with a small amount of fluid, if you dont want to take it apart you could pull the plug or even the head and let it sit in the sun or in front of a heater for a day and just let the gas evaporate

It worked on mine when it was hydro-locked (oil-locked) and couldn't budge the kick start. Removed plug, kicked it over a bit, replaced oil pump, and was good to go. It was more than a small amount of fluid.

I'd at least remove plug, kick it, and see if anything comes out.

Have some kid do it for a candy bar. I doubt it would take too long on a little razz but I've spent 20 minutes pulling sled motors and probably 10-15minutes kicking over dirtbike motors. Pull the exhaust pipe and plug to start with. Then put the plug back in to finish. Be sure to have the kill switch grounding the coil. At the very end, you can actually start it and keep the rear elevated because it will take off and burn the rest out.
