Hard time starting Yamaha razz

Post by spartan-spree »

I have a Yamaha razz with a bbk and expansion chamber. It's having a hard time starting up. If I spray a little gas into it it'll start up right away and run just fine it's the starting part. I cleaned the carb. The carb is stock besides the main jet

sounds like your stock carbs idle circut isnt supplying enough fuel for start up

i suppose you hav a pod filter on it to helping lean out the mix

I do have an after market k and n on the carb. If I tried to restrict it with tape would that help? Or if I up jetting the starting jet would that do the trick

if you can change the pilot then you should have done that when you changed the main jet

tapping up some of the filter may help but change that pilot jet first

I'm having a hard time finding a higher pilot jet for the razz carb. They have none anywhere. Do you know where I could get one or any help thanks.

That 46 pilot jet was only used in the Razz. There is probably another jet that will fit. Just going to have to check jets the old fashioned way, by physical dimensions and side by side comparison.

Your hands and a caliper on the jet.
