you can get close to 50mph with the stock setup..more power? ummm id say the minarelli..they are torque monsters..there are a few of those running around here..2 with the 70 a/c evo kit tt pipe 21 del..etc..top speed they cant keep up with my elite tho..down low they move..seems like once around 55mph they dont shine like the af's..now im talking zuma not jog..big size differnce,,im building my 4th hori. min. now for a friend..stock crank, tecnigas pipe,21 dellorto.polini primaries, and some off brand bore..see what it does..good luck with yours

The Minarelli has 100x more kits for it and the topend kits with the right gearing will let you do 70-75 mph without any trouble. It all depends how much green you have.

Stick with the Honda in the Honda. Insane acceleration can be achieved by either motor. You just have to know how to tune with the correct combination of parts. Tons of torque down low without the proper tuning will either have you losing traction off the line or bogging.

Minarelli,

there are many new bore kits, crank, pipe. much more.

get a yamaha jog 92-01 , Not zuma, too heavy.

yamaha stock jog can go 50mph or little over., only if you are very light rider. 100lb.

Have you run both motors?
Both can give you insane acceleration and speed.
How is your budget? ;)
Minarelli's are great motors.
Newer technology than the Dio's.
Let us know what you decide and why.
Thanks. :thumbwink:

just get a good bore like a corsa or mhr and a good pipe and you will be happy..a jog is the way to go if using the minarelli..unless you have lots of money and can get the really nice high end stuff..like big evo or the mhr 86..

the italian bores cant handle stock crank., because you are going to run pwk carb and pipe.

get a new crank ,bearings n seals match up bore kit.

X2
Replace the stock crank for any of those BBKs. It can't handle thrower high strung bores.

Stock Zuma crank uses 10mm wrist pin.... most high end Minerelli kits use 12 or 13mm pins.
So figure on a crank also

Get a polini crank w/ polini bearings.

I have polini evo crank 10mm/contesta has no problem over 2500 miles my jog.

you can use the stock intake for dellorto phbg carb wit stock airbox. ( remove snorkel tube)

you will need a gear kit. 9:1 or 9.6 should be fine.

here are my pics, I built it the block of my yamaha jog.
