I bought 2 2004 kx65s for my nephews, twins aged 8 almost 9, decided to buy the athena racing 82cc kits for them. Anyone have any experience tuning this with the fmf fatty pipe and stock carb with a moose racing open filter, or similar setup?
They started with a 86 yamaha pw50 with training wheels at age 5, no trainers at 6, suzi Lt80 4 wheeler at 7, and last year 2 04 kawasaki kx 65 for their birthday at 8, now they want to go faster to hit the double. So anyone saying too much power doesnt know them like I do.
These kits are nice, at $500 a piece they better be. I just dont want to do too much trial and error, I bought 2 each of jets from 195-240, and pilots from 28-70. Jetsrus.com loves me. Any experience with this kit and tuning would be awesome, thanks!

Do you mean you can put the kx50 top end on a jog? if so the 60/65/80 will work and all those kits for it. But the kx is water cooled, maybe a water cooled jog. It would have to be an old vert engine if so.

They dont use a kx kit, its a ktm.
Water cooled kits arent cheap, come on what lol. Do a little research on prices before you say some on is crazy. The french italian made Athena is the best there is for the kx65, I dont buy junk chinese for something I want to last. In my opinion if youre scared of spending money dont run 2 strokes, especially for a couple of 8 year old beginners.
I spent near 1000 for the 280cc athena kit for my 07 crf250r, like I said Im not a cheapo.

My friend recently did the 180cc swap on his 125 vino, now its a screamer. Spent a lot but it was worth it. For a 4 stroke its... Not bad, lol. If the yamahas were a little more reliable I'd run a mina, but ill be damned if I don't see more yamahas for sale with engine problems than any other big name scooter. They are fast as * when running right.
