Post by BJM3x96813 »

Is there any rotory kit available for dd50 motors? Are they any good? And where could I get them?

What is a rotary kit ? Mazda RX7 has a rotary engine. Disc brakes have rotors. Most large cities have rotary clubs.

Ahh, now I see.
My dirt bike buddies used to call that a PVL stator kit. Reduce rotating mass, increase crankshaft acceleration speed.
On the automotive side, Smokey Yunick was a big promoter of reducing rotating mass, he had a pretty good handle on increasing performance, dont think he dabbled in the two stroke world though.

People should install things personally before advertising they work. :)
Yeah I can get my hands on a taida. Any feedback from them from anyone? And do you need to mod a dd50 block for it to fit?

If you shave the stator bell you will lose top end, if you use a billet PG front face you can still gain off the line and top end.

Interesting....pretty sure I saw someone post that it fit, personally have seen it and done it , the only real issue is using it for air cooled requires a SMC rex or rexy fan as the stock fan is too wide and will hit the shroud, the original bracket failed almost instantly , the new custom ones shouldn't be a problem, but you never know all things fail especially experimental ones

Keyway are to set timing, but not needed, we have had the "taida" version since last year July I think? It's not bad but there are issues some major some not
First is the timing on the mag is set advanced, idk why but the"trigger" point is about 3/8 to 1/2" forward of a stock mag.
Second is the reliability, some last 6 months most wont, some fail with in 5 miles, how many kits are here? I personally brought in 30 and sold all but 1 which I used for mock up.
Third the fan that ones with it will explode on initial use- don't bother trying
Forth no timing adjustment, can slot the bracket or the pickup or both, I even attempted to have brackets made to do this

Imagine the stock trigger bump on the mag being 3/8 to 1/2" longer at the beginning, that would advance the timing "X" amount of degrees and that's exactly what they did on taida kit

That's not adjustable? I'll have a taida here soon, it's nice to know the short comings before I install it on an engine I'm not going to run before it's shipped.
