dd50 oil premix question

DD50 riders, yah I know many will say just premix only but,

1) how much oil should i add at fill up if I'm still using the stock oil pump on a 72cc with stock carb? gas tank is 1.5 gallons, pump puts out 50:1.
2) can i run premix in the pump?
3) can i run injector oil as a premix?
4) which oil you recommend for a daily driver?

I don't wanna waste a perfectly good oil pump so might as well use em. If it dies, then I'll premix of course. Thanks.

I think the best thing to do is wire tie the pump open full instead of having it throttle controlled, and adding maybe an ounce of oil to the tank. It's kinda tough to gauge what to add since your essentially thinning out your gas w/o knowing exactly what the pump puts out at what point in the throttle position. I'm running a stock bore and still pulled my oil injection pump and res just to have more control of my fuel mixture. I run 32:1 which is fairly standard advice from the more knowledgeable guys on here. It's amazing how much more oil you use when you premix, even at 50:1. That pump doesn't put out that much oil, at least not on my aero 50 or my brothers zuma.

Btw, I like lucas semi synthetic. It's actually smokeless, and I think my scoot runs better on it. I've used this red armor stuff I found at a hardware store and liked it too. But it only comes in 2.6oz bottles.

Greetings:

50:1 is 2%.

Your 72cc is roughly 22 ccs bigger per cycle, so about half again more oil is needed, or 1%. Therefore you need about 100:1 in the tank. An ounce per gallon should be pretty close.

The ammount of oil is depended upon how high you're going to rev your engine. Low revvers need only 2%. 10k needs 3%, 12k singers need 4%. It's directly related to rpm and hp.

Best advice for wether or not you can use your injector oil as premix and your pre mix oil as injector oil is to read the bottles label.
I prefer motul 800 and maxima 927 for premix and motul 510 or 710 for injectors. I try to steer clear of semi synthetic oils. Lucas has been a suspect in many seizes on this sites and others, as well as real world experiences at the enduro races 2 months ago.

Is the motul stuff available at a Walmart or oreillys? I don't have a bike shop close. How about outboard oil for premix? I'm currently using some Penns oil I got, no other choice, comes out kinda thin and blue.

I usually just order a 32 or 64 oz bottle of Maxima 927 from Amazon..

Thx gang. Plugged pump and running between 2.5-4 oz per gallon of amsoil dominator. Daily driver so low rpms. Originally thought I had a 72cc, but on inspection, I know its a taiwan bore, not sure of exact size. Anyone know the common taiwan bore sizes for DD50 with stock carb, airbox?

If your not using the pump you should remove it I think. It could possibly freeze up and shear the cogs of the crank and cause all kinds of probs, or so I've read on this site. You can get a plug for cheap, or even use a bunch of pennys, some quarters and a 50 cent peice ;) I saw it on here somewhere, takes about $2.17 in change haha.
