Greetings:

The overly-complex airbox on the Vespa S50 features a snake-like snorkel pipe that's flanged into the air intake of box.

It didn't look all that restrictive, but appearances can be deceiving. Throttle response had become balky, stuttering as the Texas Temps climbed this summer. Add to that was a moderately annoying issue with backfires off-throttle. I had assumed - mistakenly from prior experience with Harley Carb Farts - that it was running lean. Marked improvement when I removed the pipe from the airbox intake - WAY better, more linear throttle response, and backfires reduced to one or two Chuffs when cutting the throttle rapidly. No chance yet for a decent top speed run but feels like it'll be faster too. I'll have to pull the spark plug to see if I need to jet up from 80 to 82, especially as the weather starts to cool...

Most of my money is spent on scooterparts. The rest is just wasted.
