Up Gearing my AE50 from 12.8:1 -> 9.8:1?

Hi, I wondered if anyone has some thoughts on the advisability of upgearing to the following ratios with a stock, de-restricted motor?
AFAIK there's a Polini up gearing option on the secondary driven gears from 41/11 (standard) to 40/14 (Polini). If my calculations are correct, this will raise the overall ratio from 12.8:1 up to 9.8:1.
The stock motor produces about 6.5 HP so is comparable to a DIO?
I'm thinking about this as the motor is already revving highly at about 35mph and max HP is at about 6500. I need to put the tacho back on to be sure about speeds & revs but thought I'd ask opinions about the likely outcome based on other experiences.
