JOG HELP!!!

He's been rebuilding carbs for years, and suggested maybe the float pin is bad? Seriously? If it was questionable, and he was any good at what he does, maybe he would have replaced it? It sounds more to me like he's trying to avoid personal responsibility for the fact your scooter doesn't run.

Open the carb up for yourself and see what's going on; you're not going to be able to rely on the seller to give you good advice or fix it.

True, although he does seem pretty willing to help. But, yeah I thought that sounded weird, too.

As for the quick start, it's literally just a little spray of it and it gets th motor running for a few seconds. But, the motor starts even without the quick start, so I only did it a couple of times altogether.

BTW, could it be the fuel filter? It sounds like the engine uses the gas sent in by the carb, but the carb doesn't refill quickly enough, so it dies.

No, it's not the filter.

If he's willing to help, watch him do it once (the teardown) and make sure that he can spray carb cleaner through the idle jet. Also have him point out what's what on the carb. You'll need to learn to do this stuff if you want to continue to ride scooters anyway.

Man, it would be sweet if I could find someone taking apart a Jog carb on youtube. I looked but didn't find any. I think I can do it...I have the service manual. But, it would still be cool to see it.

s***...there's a little oil in where the plug is. What does that mean? I can't find an oil leak.

Dude, it's a 2-stroke. Oil is in the combustion chamber anyway. I wouldn't sweat it... your issue to fix is getting the thing running at all.

Yeah, I figured that out. A whole mess of people told me that it needs to be dry in there, but they were all thinking of 4 stroke.

Anyway, I cleaned out the carb again...in truth it was already pretty spotless in there. I double checked all the jets and stuff, and I'm going to put it back on after work today.

The brass idle mix screw should be out 1.5 runs, the idle speed setting is set with the engine running and hot, best ot have a helper hold it wide open while you get it going then set it roughly till its warmed up. Completely block airflow till she runs.

So, since I cannot even start the bike, how am I supposed to get it running and hot?

Im thinking of a honda carb, just set everything at 1.5 turns out from all the way in and adjust form there. I meant to say turns not runs. Get it runing and then adjust it.

Ok, it's sorta running now.

Question...the air stem on the back wheel broke off...yep...broke off.

Does this mean I need a new tire, or a whole new wheel?
