JOG CLONE ENGINE? CAN YOU ID THIS MOTOR?

Post by HondaCharlie »

I just got a spree with this motor mounted on it, the motor appears to be a 96 or so yamaha jog motor. It looks 100% identical inside and out to a jog motor. But it doesnt say "YAMAHA"on the kicker cover, it says "PETERSON MOTORS" I google peterson motors and get nothing. i google the #'s off the engine and get nothing. Anybody know what the * kind of engine this is? Its for sale if anybody wants it also, it runs great, but I sold the carb off it. Look at pics

so its a chinese knockoff of a jog motor? Think parts are swappable? It runs great, does 40 stock. If jog performance parts fit, then I'll build it up , kit it and put it on a razz

Don't confuse it with the highly modifiable Jog style horizontal minarelli.

That looks like a clone of a pre 92 jog, which had a few parts but nothing major. Pull the cover, does it have a pulley? that would confirm it

This is THE Jog style motor which folks talk about: (Old pic of my Jog)

yup you're right, mines not horizontal like that. mine does have that exact same rear rim attatched to it though.
Anybody want this motor for cheap? It runs good, just needs a yamaha razz/jog style carb. i have the carb for it but its missing the carb top and slide
