well i put my k&n Filter on with a size 80 main jet and went for a ride it seemed to be okay...I took it out tonight for a long ride and it wasnt running completely normal but not horrible either so i just took it easy. i stopped for about a half hour and started again andd my acceleration sucked and it would not pass 40.....so i stopped to look at somethings and i figured it may be running a little to hot so i let it cool down and started it back up no problem and ran fine for about 5 mins and then went back to the same thing. i took my plug out when i got back and it looked like i was running lean so i put in a bigger jet and it ran better but not as good as it was runnin before..... What should i cheack next????????

to tell you the truth, i have tried this, and i lost some of the power it had with the stock air box. it kinda made it bog. the only thing it did for me was make it louder. because you aernt changing a slow jet too, you lose the snap in the throttle it once had. if it ran better before, i would put it back stock.

Actually, putting in 2-stroke oil into the gas will further lean out the mix, since you've replaced (by volume) some of the gas with oil.darat wrote:if you are running lean then y dont u put some 2 stroke oil in the gas tank to make up for that slow jet. so you wont burn up the rings.
As far as downjetting goes, running a larger jet in a stock Spree does nothing but slow it down and waste fuel. "The leaner the meaner."

lean means ur getting too much air, not enough fuel. fuel passing through the crankshaft cools the engine, more so w/ the correct ratio of oil.darat wrote:so your saying that if u put 2stroke mix with the gas and running the oil pump it is makeing it run leaner i dont get it. your giveing the eng more oil so it wouldnt run lean. lean means the engine is not geting enough oil right?
projects galore
Running lean means more air, less fuel. Hotter burn, hotter jug and piston.
Running rich means more fuel, less air. Colder burn, until unburnt fuel starts burning in the exhaust, then the exhaust heats up, heating the jug.
Hotter = more efficient = more power = shorter life for rings
Low octane = Hotter burn
Leaner = Hotter burn
Higher compression = hotter burn
There are even more tradeoffs. Honda did the tradeoffs and created a low compression, low power engine which will run a long time and met power regs. As you manipulate things you have to try to keep everything balanced. That's why plug chops (and the like) are important.
