Re: Gyro - general thread
Good stuff on the Gyro stand. I've got to make a dedicated stand sometime. Making one for both the TG50 and NN50 is what I want.
-- Other needs --
Sometimes, there is no support available from below - Engine swaps, removal of the left crankcase side for stator replacement or right side for transmission/clutch inspection or repair add a new problem to support.
I've used a sawhorse to suspend the Gyro for engine swaps. Also a simple 2x6 stand for easy stuff. Not that refined, just convenient on-hand holders. The simple stand is usually used with the Gyro further back, resting on the sides of the 2x6. Where it's shown in the pic was for draining the trans oil.

The saw horse looked great ,my problem is I do not have the luxury of a lot of room .
but the saw horse makes a lot of sense I like it !
Also its good to know other people are having the same problems as me .

GOOFY GYRO Muffler MOD.
I was going to keep a red Gyro stock . But just couldn't do it .
The muffler cover looks like it needs a little extra .
It was easy to do and can be removed .
Total cost maybe $2.00 bucks ?

Gyro Speedometer Lamp Replacment
Someone asked how to change a lamp in the speedometer on a Gyro .
Easy
2-8mm bolts
2-philips screws
After the speedometer is off the bike ,remove the hi beam & signal indicator mount (two 8mm bolts).
Then undo the philips screw holding the ground wires , then remove the round rubber lamp holder
should just pull right out .
The replacment lamp is a Stanley 158.
After seeing how it comes apart I tried a LED it looked pretty good kinda blue ,I might try it w/ different colors and see what happens .

Far as I have found Honda skipped scooter friendly and talented HI with their Gyros. I don't know why, it seems an easy stop on the way to the west coast. I think sales would have been good in HI. Not for speed guys for reasons maddog gives. Just laid back cruising, easy parking (the one touch lever) and it's uniqueness.motormike wrote:I LIKE Gyros, no matter which state i'm in.

Nice mods on the exhaust trim and speedo 66Six - hope you post some LED speedo pics
Motormike - good pic is that one of your Gyro's?

The wheels go back on '86,...... ....'85 wheels need work, just too cold to paint usually. Then when you have a nice day, well, you know............ .......chevyguyjay wrote:haha. awesome. better paint them rims.
Yeah mousewheels,.....this '85 is my favorite. Had a sunny 67 today so with the help of a cordless impact I borrowed the Dunlops from an '86 and went looking for some photo-ops.
