Front suspension changes on a spree: How To
So i have read and read and read and i am still not 100% sure. what forks will bolt into a spree without mods? I think Aero50 is the only one but i have read everything i could on here and never got a for sure answer.
also what is the story about raking the headtube back 3 degrees? pics of a bike back together with plastics? i want mine to keep the stock appearance of the plastic but i will loose the fender if need be.

Dawg! Nice job on the "SpreeY6"!! Clean, almost stock-looking. I espcially like how you nestled the rear wheel in the tail-light recess. Is it far enough away from the covers for the tire not to kiss the plastic? I sure hope that's not a stock Spree front brake though. If it is, I have a stock 95mm Met front panel you can have to see if a Met wheel can fit.
Anyway, much Respect, dude.

thanks the rear is rigid and is about 1/8" from the cut frame. i wanted it to look stock and since those pics the exhaust was cut down 11" so all it is purple now.
i have a met here i can take measurements off of but i would like to upgrade the forks also.
i own a ruckus, a metro, and the spree. i had read though i thought that MAYBE an aero50 front end bolts directly on? i was trying to find out more about that.

They all require modification and do NOT bolt right up.
The express forks require the least amount of custom fabrication.
But I like the elite s forks the best.

Warning!! If you do this mod, your front spree fender will no longer fit.
Measure the overall length of the spree stem.
Cut both the elite and the spree stems 2.5" from the base.
Use a pipe cutter to make sure the cuts are straight.
Now the next thing your gonna want to do is find a metal rod, that had a outer diameter, the same as the inner diameter of the stems. Cut this metal rod to about 5".
Next you are gonna want to drill some holes in the spree and elite stem pieces. This makes it easier to weld it later.
Slide the metal rod in the cut down elite forks and weld it through the holes that you drilled earlier.
Double check the overall measurement of the new spree/elite stem and make sure it is the same as the original spree stem.
Finally weld the spree stem on to the elite forks and metal rod. Make sure that the square notch lines up in the back.

Not sure if you would be interested.
But I have a complete front end out of 1983 Aero 80.
The forks, the shocks, silver front fender, front brake and wheel.
Of course I have no idea if it fits or not but thought I would offer it up.

Anything can be made to fit, as you've shown us time and time again. If he wants the wide front tire to complement the larger rear, he could cut and weld them at the tree. Maybe the aero 80 front fender could still be used this way.Trafficjamz wrote:The 1983 aero 80 will NOT fit.
