Only a fool would think oil in a water bottle makes for a accurate mix. Idiots that think their eye makes for an accurate mix are what ruin their scooters and give bad advise to others.

I downloaded a sweet app on my android phone called 2 stroke gasoil mix calculator by HENYO, it cost .99, but the cool thing is that when it calculates from US gallons used, it will output both US ounces and milliliters. Every other free calculator on android did not do this. One claimed it did, but when I put in 1 gallon of gas at 32:1 it said i needed 3700milliliters, which is way off. I know 1 gallon and 4 ounces of oil is very easy to calculate, but at .8gallons, its more accurate to use milliliters than ounces.

The cool thing about this app is that when you fill up at the gas station you don't always fill up in .5 gallon increments. So just fill it up, throw the number in the calculator and use a measuring syringe to accurately get the ratio you need.

There's an online calculator i found that's free. http://www.csgnetwork.com/oilfuelcalc.html This does the same thing, but if you don't have data coverage and want to use it, no luck. That's why I bought the app for .99

How do you measure the oil with a water bottle?

have you made marks on the bottle? or just eyeball it?

So back in the 60's early 70's of snowmobile riding in northern Michigan ,long before oil injection you could drive your sled to the gas station and they had pre-mixed gas at the pumps ! T

Oh lord... this thread got interesting.

Funny. I have the same situation on my stock Elite, where the pump died and I decided just to run it pre-mix rather than installing a new pump (I ground off the gear teeth and stuffed it back in.)

I carry a full 1 qt bottle. I can see through the sides how much oil I'm adding, and I add it in accordance to the amount of gas.

32:1 is 1 oz per .25 gallons. Not that hard. If I dump in too much or too little? Frankly, running 50:1 or 25:1 on a tank isn't going to kill the engine or the plug.

I have premixed for thousands of KM, no troubles. I carry a small bottle that holds 100ml of oil graduated into 10 ml increments, and I just carried a small calculator and did the math for how much gas I put in for the given ratio I required for the bike, real simple. Then before the smartphones I had a HP pocket pc that had excel in it so I figured out how to write an excel program that had the ratio and litres boxes just like the free android app does now. Now I use the android app. I try not to have to mix on the road but sometimes you have to. I have been spoiled by the oil injection on my spree but have to premix my express. Oil injection is a great thing.
