possibly lower the roller weights by a fraction.Raising the cylinder will also raise port timing just a little but you may find a little more power with a few more rpm .

If the deck height was natural it would raise the ports but I think since it's a lower deck height the timing is right back to stock. 145 psi is normal for the contessa and corsa which makes me think timing is back. Before it should have been a bit, uh, retarded.
I just pulled a corsa top end off of a 94 or 95 block and found the same issue johnny248 had with his block not being perfect machined true. I have a lip or edge sticking up. Maybe they figured out the issue and started machining the irregular ones which gave a lower deck height. Who knows what they did.

Greetings:

About 75 miles done. Had to ride a 50-MPH highway for an errand. Temps nominal, and RPMs about 8000 mostly. If it hasn't blown up by now, it probably won't. Went WOT in a crosswind for about a half-length and saw

Stock carb and pipe, not too bad. There's more in there, I am confident.

Hi wheelman. nice work. the contesta is very durable most likely nothing will happen now.try a 92 jet? may give you that little extra you need? 55 downwind should be no problem.

He has me beat. I'm using the malossi cast kit that's been cleaned up and lightly touched on the ports, malossi cdi, malossi vario with polini boss, 6.5g polini rollers, malossi belt for s trans, malossi white torque, malossi delta clutch, malossi winged bell, malossi wild lion, sheet uni filter cut to fit stock box, 84ish jet max, 9.8 gears, and br9hs. Max speed is 50 on the nose. Up or down hill.
I should have kept the contessa ha. Maybe it's the less miles, but I'm envious!

1man your scoot is loaded compared to sir Wheels. I guess polini has an upper hand on using stock carb and pipe. I lost my cast malossi in transit so I picked up a polini corsa and never had to see what the malossi had to offer.

Greetings:

1man's scooter has 9.8:1 gears. Flash 9 has 9.1:1. Therein may lie the difference on top speed. I suspect his would dust mine in a drag race.

If I haven't posted a hundred times before in threads all over the place, I'm running a similar setup but seeing much higher temps.

Have you considered drilling out the pilot a bit on this setup? It seems like the small pilot is a limiting factor with a well breathing big bore / stock carb pairing. If it's drilled too big, might be able to compensate with a lowered needle. I'm asking so maybe you try it before I decide to get stupid and attempt/destroy mine

I can tune my pilot so rich it will kill the scooter, or I can cause it to bog off of the line very easy with the pilot. If you're having issues with the pilot and an air box and filter is in place and SEALED to the carb, you have an air leak some where, or your carb needs to be ultrasonic cleaned. These cast kits don't need a huge carb. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt it but in this experience I don't see the necessity for a large carb.

Greetings:

On our last couple of rides around Deepinnaharta, Ms. Wheelperson's Vapor indicated speeds in the mid-high 40s and the top temps were 323 and 335, so I don't think the Contesta Iron necessarily gets any hotter than stock. My top temp of 380-something was when the bore was really fresh - well under 100 miles. This is with a 90 main and the needle in the Rich position.

That's good to know. Perhaps (I hope) my high temps is just simply a consequence of break-in. I have under 20 miles on the Malossi cast.

Greetings:

Peak temps seem to be dropping lately. 340, 325 some rides. Perhaps the result of better clearance with break-in, but also possibly due to richening mixture in fierce South Texas heat. Thinking about getting a Taida starter motor if anyone can tell me they help spin the big-bore without stuttering.

Hi wheelman.
My 50 ×50 Stroker seems to have power and mid-range but slow top end. Top speed seems to be about 65 mph. Although it can still use some tuning if I can ever find the time. Lol
It is also loud. Lol.
Go for it have fun with it :thumbwink:

Greetings:

Nothing really new to report, except that Number 9 gets ridden about once a week. Starts on first kick, usually. Needs 30 seconds of idle time, then rides away without a hiccup. Really good low-speed performance with the ZX pulleys and 9:1 gears. Noplace to go much faster than 55, but it gets to 50 in 1/8 mile. Vapor peaks at 340 typically. RPMs hover around 8000 mostly, 8500 or so max. Stock carb, box and pipe still on. Just like God and Honda-san intended.
