I have a 1999 Honda CH80 Elite.
When I initially accelerate from either a standstill, or coasting, there is a squeal that sounds like two pieces of metal rattling together (like two washers on a shaft).
Once up and running the squeal isn't there.
I've replaced the belt and the weights and basically cleaned the inside of the CVT area. The clutch seems to be in good shape with plenty of lining remaining. However, I still get the squeal. It doesn't appear to be degrading the performance, but is sure is embarrassing when otherwise the scooter is so smooth and quiet.
Thanks for your consideration.

Did you ever solve this? Same exact problem. Large loss of power.

You will receive notice if you create a post about your specific problem.
You will need to give a good description of the symptoms to get good advice.
Always state the year, and model of your scooter too.
I say that you probably have a badly worn drive belt.
Take off the CVT cover and measure for wear.
Specs for the belt are always in the Service Manual for your model.
Manuals for Elite 80 can be found in the Board Index.

I'd say it's time to open it up and look in there, but I'd guess belt to. Maybe a weakened oem contra?
