When the can is all the way off i have my highest top speed but it bogs a little off the line. Then the can is slid off about a third of the way my power really kicks in at about 15mph and i can climb hills better than i can on my ruckus.
1/3rd the way out is more then likely your sweet spot (at a guess). If that isn't giving you your top speed, now is the time to experiment with jets and needle positions. Just go higher till you 4 stroke/gurgle, then adjust your beer can ever so slightly out... test the off the line response first, when that starts slipping, you went too far. Taz has #38 pilots for the carbs for sale, but it has been my experience, the stock pilot jetting is just fine. Wouldn't try his #38 unless you want to really experiment.. They are a real pain in the rear to change out anyway. I think you should probably be fine with the stock. Just soak the carb overnight in a small crock pot with some oxi-clean, spray it all out with WD-40 and reassemble, should be clean as a whistle then.

I wanna see you report back next time that you have reached 40, GPS confirmed, no excuses. You seem like an intelligent person, love the pipe hack AND BEER CAN MOD.. YOU GOT THIS!!

I think I hit my limit with the exhaust set up the way is, but i planned for this.

ImageIMG_1665 by chubbyfunkmonkey, on Flickr

when i first drilled out the neck of the propane tank i used a sheet metal bit. This makes it easy to up the size of the exhaust's final exit without even taking it off the scooter.

originally it was drilled out to about a 1/4" but I've gone up to 3/8 and the exhaust still seems to be choking under too much pressure at top end. I think that's probably a good thing for the time being without a temp reading, don't want to blow it up yet

As for the jetting, I think its probably between an #80 and #85 and if i go any higher it blows raspberries. I can gain a little top end if I down jet but i don't think its enough to risk over heating.

I like the propane tank pipe! Have you tried adding some length to the exit hole? May change the power band a little, I know stinger length has an effect on pipe powerband but don't really know how exactly.

There are guys that have wrapped there foam filters with duct tape and made boxes for em to get em to work... But it's a tough one to get consistently working Imo I tried and went to an air box on my Zuma haha. Btw, if you need/want an OEM airbox, I've got one from a spree I'll let go cheap. I think it would work on an sb50 motor, but I'm actually not sure.

A Spree airbox would more then likely work, but he'd probably have to experiment with a couple tiny holes. It's too bad he doesn't have that stock pipe to try out instead. Just to see where he is at compared to his pipe hack. Me thinks he's probably choking out on the intake/reeds. An 80-85 jet is BBK territory.

Just because I have a larger jet doesn't mean it's getting used. With the foam filter instead of the stock setup I'm sure the air flow over the main jet is more turbulent and therefore not working at perfect efficiency. This may be why it needs a larger jet. I could test it by putting some honeycomb or a vortex generator in the neck of the filter, but I'm already pretty happy the way it's performing.

Probably worth noting that I have been jetting by hand and haven't measured them yet. 80-85 was a guess based on holding them next to a jet with a known jet size.

Taz & jetsRus both stock a good selection of jets for a reasonable price if you need more to play with. Should come marked with a number on them so you aren't having to guess what you are using.
