Best Gears to run in a AF/16 Dio

Post by spree_szn.00 »

Hello everyone I am new here and am curious about the different gears for a af16 motor. I don't know which ones to run but I want the bike to have pretty good acceleration as well as top speed. I am sure all gears are better then stock just don't know which gears will give me what acceleration/ top speed combinations. All information is helpful let me know what you guys run.

Depends on what bore youre running and what supporting components are used. Also, what style of riding you do. For me, I live in a rather rural area where most of my travel is 45-55mph zones so Im built for that. My scoot tops around 65 at full scream but I dont reach that realm very often due to environment. If you use your scoot mainly in a busy city setting, low gear/high torque would be best for the ultimate urban assault rocket! :wink:
I need to find some new haters...the ones I have are starting to like me.

Greetings:

Stock or Sport iron cylinder without other mods do just fine on 9.1:1 gears, and can hit 50 on stock cylinder - OK Downwind. Polini or Malossi iron can huck up to 55 or more- at least Flash 9 can. If you opt for Corsa, MHR or Fabrizi, you can use 8:1 or taller, depending on carb & pipe.

Most of my money is spent on scooterparts. The rest is just wasted.

From motorscooter guide.net;

"Unlike its predecessor, the Dio (SK50) did not use the same 2-stroke engine first found in the Aero 50 (and the Elite S / R and Elite LX / SR after that). Instead, the Dio featured a next generation ‘AF18E’ motor. "

"Two years after the Dio hit the Canadian market, Honda updated the 50cc Elite (SA50) sold in the USA by changing the motor to the ‘AF16E’ engine which is very similar to the motor used in the Dio. The AF16E is just slightly detuned vs. the AF18E and usually made in Mexico (rather than Japan)."
