green wires connected to the carb
I just bought a spree and found out the green wires were cut from a previous owner. I tried to search and looked on wikispree with no luck. I can post a picture when i get home if that helps. I dont believe its the bystarter.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: green wires connected to the carb
Green wires on Honda are always "ground" or "earth" if you prefer.

Re: green wires connected to the carb
That white object is in the bystarter hole, but it is NOT a bystarter.
Can't really see it well enough to tell, but looks like someone has rigged up a fitting and has a fuel line attached to it.
Can you verify that is the case ?

Looks like a manual choke?

Re: green wires connected to the carb
Sorry, ill try with a better pic. There isnt a fuel line going to it. Also its a yellow wire and a green wire that is cut, not just green as stated.
Do i need the bystarter to start it?
I put in a new battery and didnt get anything to click. Turned the key, held the brake and pushed the button.
Btw i do have another spree that i bought with it. Ive been swapping a few parts with it. That spree does have the bystarter connected, i suppose i could take it and rewire? Im just curious why it would be set up like it is qnd why i didn't get any response when trying to start it.
The battery is brand new and charged.

Re: green wires connected to the carb
Also does the brake light bulb need to be working in order to start it? The teeth on the kickstart is a little chewed up on one of the bikes, is there a good place to buy parts or is ebay usually the only spot?
I'll probably need another bystarter and rear fender/airbox as well.
One of the exhaust bolts is broken too.
Where's the starter? Are there fuses for it? Is the headlight supposed to turn on without the spree running?(with the key position on)
I plan to take the spree apart this weekend to troubleshoot more.

Re: green wires connected to the carb
I agree with bonesv...looks like a manual conversion.
Pull up on the plunger to start, push down to turn off choke when warm.

The teeth on the kickstart is a little chewed up on one of the bikes, is there a good place to buy parts or is ebay usually the only spot?Place a Wanted ad here on the forum in the proper category...you should be able to get one here...but ebay is a necessary stop for parts when the OEM parts sites show "not available"
I'll probably need another bystarter and rear fender/airbox as well....Those Green/Yellow wires are definitely for the bystarter.
One of the exhaust bolts is broken too.
Where's the starter?...on the engine, not familiar with Spree enough to tell you exactly where, but you better be able to find a starter if you are going to work on scooters. Are there fuses for it? ...No, only ONE main fuse, and the brake light acts as a switch, must be ON to startIs the headlight supposed to turn on without the spree running?(with the key position on)...NO, headlight ONLY works with engine running.
I plan to take the spree apart this weekend to troubleshoot more....good luck, find that starter...

Re: green wires connected to the carb
Cool, thanks for the information yall!
Re: green wires connected to the carb
I had a few minutes to check the issues. The second spree, when i turned the key, the tail light lit up without starting it. Still need to figure the other spree because it does nothing when i put in the battery. Must be some screwy wires somewhere
Re: green wires connected to the carb
Tail light is supposed to come on with the key.
Headlight is NOT, until engine running.

Re: green wires connected to the carb
Thank you, I will dig into the issue further when I get a chance. I suppose I'll start from the ignition and work my way down. Any other input is appreciated.
Also, the bystarter delete doesn't seem like a manual choke. Its a screw in the top. I tried to pull up and push down. Unless it's stuck, im not sure what else it could be. May try to lube it to free it loose.

Re: green wires connected to the carb
Okay, i found out my fuse was blown
When i bought the bikes i was told they both probably needed top end/ piston work, and with the cut wires i just assumed that it was the wiring messed up somewhere. Shoulda checked the fuse in the first place, i just thought that would be too easy and not the problem lol.
I have power now, just switched out carbs along with the bystarter. Although i ran out of juice from the battery, i feel like i will have it running soon.
Kickstart keeps getting jammed so for now im relying on the battery which is on the trickler now.

Re: green wires connected to the carb
Update; its running now. One thing that kept the starter from spinning was the kickstart spindle piece, which i just took out for now.
Got it up to around 25 and it kinda scoots quick, i dont recall my last spree from 2008-2010 going as quickly, although top speed was higher.
Now to buy replacement the parts i took for the one and slap em on.
Thanks for the advice and input.
