Gyro - general thread

Re: Gyro - general thread
@vintagegarage, thank you kindly. Much appreciate the info and the offer! Sadly I’m in Massachusetts, but much of my family is around St. Pete largo areas with some north near Middleburg.
I’d like to stay stock for certain. As that’s generally the most reliable form. I’ll dig into this gyro as a winter project most likely. I love how it’s so light! I can bring it in the house to work on!
Best regards and I’m sure I’ll be back soon

I, too, am a Gyro guy.
My preference is the '85 TG50M, which I've owned and ridden 11 years (or so)
I also have owned '84 NN50M (which is your model) several times.
Currently, my girlfriend owns a blue '84 (i gave her)
As form any help I can offer, I am pretty sure I still have an airbox on hand.
If so, you can have it as it is missing the lid. Should be able to fabricate a lid.
Give me a chance to find it as I have recently moved.
You can always get me here in this forum via message.

Oh wow! The generosity here is a beautiful thing!!
I’d love to take you up on that lid offer whenever you get a chance. I’m really anxious to try this bike out. It just looks like a really good time!
I’m laid up for a bit due to a back injury, but I’m hoping I can get the gyro inside and give her a good clean up and see where I stand!
I appreciate you folks. It amazes me the willingness to help and share. I’m the same way and I definitely will do the Same whenever possible:)

If you will send me a pm with your mailing address, I will box it up and send it your way.
Not worried about a few bucks shipping.
Life is good and I'm glad to pass it along hoping it will help a fellow enthusiast.
The airbox is missing the intake boot to the carb and the lid.
You'll figure something out. I'm sure.
Happy trails compadre'....motor

Re: Gyro - general thread
I hope I'm in the right spot for Gyro "stuff" - long time lurker of this very useful forum...
Anyway, I recently bought an 84 Gyro (Spree-style) for my 10 year old. It's in pretty good shape and pretty complete with low miles (18xx), but as with any old Honda, it needed some TLC (bad tires, missing front shock bushing rubber, leaky petcock, etc). I got it running good and my son absolutely loves it! He put over 50 miles on it the first weekend, just on our property. Admittedly, they are kind of a blast to drive.
Dealing with Hondas for many years, I know a lot of Gyro parts are made from "unobtanium," and sometimes "close enough" has to work. I found all new tires (thanks, JP Cycles!) and bought an aftermarket NC50 petcock. Using an old inner tube, I made my own front shock bushing rubber (turned out better than I hoped).
My son is a bit of a purist and likes things to be stock/OEM, so...
I know it's a long shot, but does anyone happen to have (and be willing to sell/ship):
- An owner's manual (paper or PDF)?
- A working fuel sending unit?
- The small carb cover that goes on the engine cover? Even a good picture of one would be appreciated - I'm willing to try making one.
- A good picture of the "Gyro - HONDA" logo under the seat on the body? Unfortunately, someone removed the original decals and re-painted the body. I have a vinyl cutter and would like to try reproducing the original design, but it's hard to find a good picture online to go by, let alone the actual decals.
Thanks in advance if you can help or point me in a helpful direction... or thanks for reading!

Re: Gyro - general thread
Hope this helps.
The owners manual PDF might be found on the site: motorscooterguide...happy hunting
I have the carb cover, but not any pix of it.
The parts diagram found on most parts websites will give you an image.

Re: Gyro - general thread
Thanks, motormike. I appreciate the quick reply. Unfortunately, no luck at motorscooterguide - although I did download the service manual from there a few weeks ago.
If you ever happen to have the carb cover off and its convenient to grab a pic, that would be great. I do see the general shape on the exploded diagrams, but it's hard to make out specifics (tabs/slots/??) on the underside of it.
Certainly no hurry - riding season is pretty much done up here in MN.

Hi data_guy,
Here's a pic of the tabs and bottom of the cover.

Thanks mousewheels! Appreciate it!
Re: Gyro - general thread
Where might I find the gaskets and seals for my 1985 Honda Gyro S engine?
Re: Gyro - general thread
I can't guarantee this vendor will have the kit you need, but the website says "IN STOCK"
It looks to be Great Britain...idk, but good luck sir.
I'm glad you took the time to come to this forum, welcome.

I tried to order one, but the shipping cost about £9,999. That's just funny
so I just ordered it from eBay

Here's an interesting build from member Chevyguyjay.
This is an old build, and the pix of this bike and trailer had been lost until mousewheels found them stashed in his folders.
Sharing for posterity sake.
