I did an engine swap from one 1986 Spree to another 1986 Spree. The engine I swapped out was running great...I put it into another Spree...hooked everything up and the engine won't go faster than 15 mph. It starts fine...revs up good while sitting on the kick stand...but as soon as I get on it and go, it will not go more than 15 mph. Here's what I've done...
Rebuilt carb TWICE.
Cleaned the gas tank/filter/lines.
Cleaned petcock.
New oil and cleaned filter/lines
Looked at reeds...looks great..no gaps...installed new gaskets
Tried running it with both bystarters..no difference.
I did a compression check twice...both at 110 psi.
Tried a differont sparkplug....same results.
Looked at drive belt...good.
Cooked the muffler.
Pulled head and cleaned piston off....it was very clean.
Loosened back brake thinking MAYBE it hanging up...nothing still.
The gas I'm using is good cause I use it alot on stuff.
I really don't want to take this to a Honda dealer and get charged $50 buck an hour...I know it'll cost a lot of money to fix whatever is wrong but I just don't know what else to do. I've got the normal amount of smoke coming out of tail pipe.
I've double checked my work and everything is back together right. The only thing that looked MAYBE wrong is the O ring between the carb and the intake manifold adapter had a couple small cracks...but it was not broke in two.
Any other ideas?
Here's the results from a plugchop at going 15mph...
The other thing I've noticed is that the sparkplug is always oily...
