Re: JW Parts Plus - RIP OFF ARTISTS- BEWARE!!!!!!

I used them only ONCE about 2yrs ago. I went through their website and didnt use Ebay. I recall it took like 2-3 weeks to get my clutch shoes back. I only sent the shoes, not entire assembly. Transaction went fine and the fresh kevlar pads worked great. No issues to report but….that was 2yrs ago.

Re: She rides kinda rough and is a little slow

I did those same swaps some years ago and it turned out great. The Spree with the variated Af05 motor is how that scoot shouldve been made to begin with. Its a good match. Too bad theres no rebuild kits around for them anymore.

Re: She rides kinda rough and is a little slow

Finally…someone gets it! I always look at the stock Spree like my buddy with his 4-banger Mustang. He throws gobs of money and time into trying to get that pony fast when I keep telling him…”drop a v8 in that thing already!”. With the money he has into it he couldve had a 500hp crate motor in it by ...

It does burnouts
You changed a “bunch of stuff”
It does not do burnouts

Without providing details about what “bunch of stuff” you did its a guessing game.

Re: stock 86 spree flintstone launch

The belt may also be below the service limit width. Check the service manual for this limit and measure belt width with a micrometer. (Cheap $15 at Harbor Freight if you dont have) They get thinner as they wear and also stretch a few mm’s. Any of these conditions would cause it to slip and be most p...

Re: 1994 Honda Elite 50 Pricing question

Mike’s prices are accurate for Seattle area also. Running and with a title justify the upper end of that range. Factor in that its a 94’ with the af16e motor and youve got yourself a great find. Buy it before someone else does. Use the fact that its missing the battery cover to knock the price down....

Re: bbk or power

Sell the Spree…buy an Elite. Another option is to put an Elite motor in your Spree.

Just dont try to modify the Spree motor. If you try, I swear you will spend all Summer working on it and never get to ride it. The Spree bbk’s do not provide anything but frustration. Always have…always will.

Dont do any jet reaming. Pull your bell and see if the clutch pads are shot.

Re: Petcock flow problem

I had the same issue as OP. The petcock would get stuck shut and Id have to give the vac line a good suck to get flowing again and sometimes would go many rides without problem. I finally got tired of giving my scoot a BJ and replaced it.

Re: My first scooter: restoring an '87 SE50P

I wouldnt get too concerned about heat so much with the stock bore. Only swapping in an exhaust wont make it spin past the stock limit of about 8000-8500k. You changed the flow and back pressure so adjusting the jets a few clicks for runability is all to worry about. You can play with the airbox a b...

Re: Inherited a nice 85 Spree, but can't get it to start

Its the threads on the fuel tank that are unique. I once destroyed a Spree tank by cross threading an Ebay petcock that “fits 84-87”. Ordered two others from different sellers just to have the same incorrect threads. Live and learn there. Just get an in-line manual fuel valve and turn on/off the fue...

Re: tips on removing cylinder - 1986 spree

Having it bored would raise the issue of trying to find an oversized piston for it. Youre more likely to find Jimmy Hoffa than one of those. If youre hellbent on restoring the Spree motor to it’s former glory, I recommend…buying a good used OEM Spree bore from someone on these forums or Ebay or ? Ho...
