INSIDE Carburetors

Greetings: I found THIS fascinating. Oversimplified, and doesn't account for Idle and Enrichener circuits and needle positions, (let alone taper diameters and lengths...) but a beautiful Inside Look at a carb at work on an agrarian engine. Enjoy if you have a half-hour. Then try to imagine it happen...

Re: Spree - Slow Take Off AFTER engine warms up

Greetings: You may be under a misapprehension. The belt is designed NOT to slip, although it does incrementally under high loads at speed. That's why there's a big strong spring squeezing the belt between the rear pulleys, and jamming it into the wedge formed by the front pulleys. All the Slip happe...

Re: 1998 Elite SP50A Issues

Greetings: Absolutely anything is possible but the spark for the SB50 is Alternator dependent, so in theory it should run without a battery. I'm not sure if the Elite 80 needs a battery or not, but the Elite E should not. I didn't see that you had removed or replaced the spark plug? Its condition ca...

Re: 2010 Honda Elite 110

Greetings: At around 260 pounds fully fueled, it's not exactly light. It's actually heavier than my Vespa 150. But it is a Honda, and should run a long time with a good battery and periodic attention to the fluids. At that age, check for yellow hydraulic fluid in the master cylinder and replace rega...

Re: Spree idle sticks

Greetings:

Just a guess but it sounds like a vibration-dependent air leak. Check for it with a can of brake cleaner, sprayed on all the suspect spots. See if you have any seepage around the crank ends if the intake circuit checks out OK.

Re: Flash 9: Sanity Restored

Greetiings: Been there, along with a vintage Nickel-Silicon underperforming 78cc cylinder kit, through the late, lamented USED Corsa sold to my by an 808 member that would have lasted longer if I had been able to find the "lost" wrist pin circlip. I finally found the Legendary Fabrizi 78 a...

Re: Ch80 elite engine help needed please

Greetings:

Surprising it would even start, let alone run, with that carb o-ring missing. Honda/Keihin might still stock rebuild kits for your carb or carbs that are close enough. I'd start with PartZilla or somesuch and fan out.

Re: Ch80 elite engine help needed please

Greetings: It depends upon your Ambitions. It appears to me there are a lot of lines, cables and wires that need careful, systematic verification and replacement as indicated if you just want a reliable daily driver. If the scooter's cosmetic condition is good overall, I'd drop the engine out and fi...

Hmm! Will it remain a 50cc, or can one contemplate shoehorning in a 125? Perhaps with a 155 kit?

Re: The Daily Chat

Greetings:

Saddened by your loss. You used to boast of the Helix's Babe Magnetism and Knee-draggin' ride height. Perhaps your neighbor's Pedigree and Deep Pockets turned the tide. At least you get to see it now and then. Majesty tuned up and ready to go?

Wow, just, WOW!! More than cosmetically acceptable, a true Jewel, at least from 8' away. I'd sure like to know more about how that funky 2-speed works, though.
