I've been able to connect with Chevyguyjay on the facebook page for the TG50M Gyro S.
The page is mildly active, always people wanting throttle cables, battery covers, engine covers, and looking on how to make them go faster.

I've been away from this forum for years, more focused on other Honda and then Piaggio projects and, for the past couple of years, a 67 Honda CB450 (the Black Bomber). Anyway, I have a 65 TG50 Gyro, not great but not awful, that's been under a cover in a dark, dry garage for years. It ran about 4 years ago, but not since. It's just about complete except for the usual battery cover and the cover over the horn. I had it bored out and there's a Yamaha piston in there now - the original was rusted in place and the cylinder had to be bored. The Gyro is in Berkeley, across the Bay from San Francisco. Just got my first gyro… love it and it’s a blast to ride! Just wish it was a little faster. I know there’s a 70cc kit for it but is there anything I can do minor to get some extra MPH out of it?

Local marketplace find...a bit ratty, but only 550 miles.

When you get it cleaned up and running well, it will be interesting to see if it runs like your black one when wide open going downhill.

First report is that '86 runs slightly faster (32mph on flat)
Like the '85, it also has a similar symptom downhill, WOT. Feels like it has throttle left, but can't utilize because it needs more fuel. Previous owner has notched the fender assembly to allow carb removal with ease. Already had to clear pilot jet once. Tank is Red-coated, filter inline is clear and shows no debris. BTW, '85 has suffered an axle failure on the left side and has been sidelined for a bit. Haven't tried any jets yet, now's my chance.

Well Mr. vintagegarage: after swapping main jets in the '86, there is a noticeable improvement.
The downhill throttle is more responsive, leaving very little on the table.
OEM jet size fitted is 75...I went with 80 as a test.
Results are pleasing, but still feels like it would be better with something bigger.
I'll up the size next time I pull the carb, probably to 84 (if that's in the kit)
