Re: 1987 elite SE50P de-restrict
I dont see the dif in the mufflers, can you show me what/tell me what is differant. I have done a dio swap on my spree and i got a variated motor out of a 2001 elite, i wanna know if im restricted, I was going to buy an aftermarket exhaust anyway but if i can make a minor change in the mean time to see results id be happy.

You did a swap using the AF16. Your restriction will be a washer in the headpipe...unless it's an SR pipe or it's already been ground out.cfaulkstlouis wrote:I have done a dio swap on my spree and i got a variated motor out of a 2001 elite, i wanna know if im restricted

Yes I used the AF16 are you ntalking about the washer between the exhaust pipe and where it attaches to the motor, because that was off and i gained about 8 mph on top end, but i was leaking about 40% exhaust out of the front.

The washer that needs removed is welded into the head pipe.

Hi, where can I find these non restricted plates or what is the Honda part number for this for my AF05E (Aero 50/Vision 50/NB 50 MY 1986)?evilone wrote:What will you use for a plate if you remove it? The ramp plate needs replaced not removed. Get a Keli variator and a non-restricted ramp plate.DERP wrote:Can i just take off the restricted plate ?
Do I keep the plate held by 3 screws behind this new unretricted plate?
The original (restricted) part n┬░ for my Aero 50 (MY 1986) :
22131gn2670
My Honda dealer will only provide restricted plates and websites specialized in Hondas sell restricted ones...when they can get them.
Ex :
http://www.cheapcycleparts.com/model_ye ... blies/6580
http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-nb50m-aero-5 ... ml#results
I had a look for the unrestricted SE50 plate (they do mount on the AF05E???) here :
http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-se50-50-s-us ... ml#results
The part N┬░ should be :
22131gr1010
But it's not available and the picture doesn't look like the one on the wiki :
http://hondaspree.net/wiki/index.php5?t ... erformance
Thanks for any input.

The non restricted plate is NLA (no longer available) from Honda here in the States. Several of us have used plates if that would interest/help you.

It could interest me indeed.
I saw your MP and will answer.
Do I keep the restriction plate behind the variator with this non restricted plate?

Re: 1987 elite SE50P de-restrict
If the grease retention ring actually restricts the ramp plate, I would remove it. If it does not restrict the ramp plate, I like to use them because it keeps the rollers from falling out when you are working on it.

Re: 1987 elite SE50P de-restrict
I don't know if it restricts the ramp plate.
If it's only to keep the rollers in when working on it, no problem, I'll take the back plate off. I'll go and have a look at this right now.

Re: 1987 elite SE50P de-restrict
The original purpose was to keep the grease from splattering everywhere. A greased belt is no good.

Re: 1987 elite SE50P de-restrict
Ok, so I checked the variator. Without the back plate, the belt will not go higher than with it in place.
So, the variator is not restricted by the back plate but by the ramp plate.
Flat is restricted.
Curve style is non restricted.
I need your non restricted ramp plate.
I'm now putting back the back plate + regreasing the whole thing...

If you want to grease the rollers use a tiny amount of lube.

Re: 1987 elite SE50P de-restrict
Better still run the Vario dry. Honda-San himseld did starting in 1994. Makes for less-messy roller swaps when tuning.

Re: 1987 elite SE50P de-restrict
Ok, but if you're not tuning, won't the rollers last longer bathing in grease?
Once it'll be closed and the good ramp plate in place, I'm not planning on opening this every week-end...
BTW, what's Honda-San I keep reading everywhere?

Re: 1987 elite SE50P de-restrict
Bonjour:
Honda-San = Monsieur Honda en japonais.
The grease adds little or nothing to roller longevity. It does add a lot of fuss to optimize the load, plus the extra weight of the grease/cover. Leave it off and run Dry.
