Look on the VIN sticker on the frame tube on the carb side. Does it say SE50P?

Yes SE50P
Re: 1987 Honda Elite 50
The "P" means its the "restricted" version. I just went through this same process. To de-restrict you need to get a muffler, ramp plate and gears from an SE50. They say that the main jet in the SE50P "IOWA VERSION" is #82 and if you have that then it needs to be swapped with a #85. Just the Ramp plate, muffler and #85 main jet will get you to 40+ mph. However, you don't have to swap the restricted items with stock SE50 parts. You can always swap them for aftermarket stuff which is more money but will give you more gains. Picture shows the difference of the ramp plate. The left one is un-restricted.

Where can i get and exhaust and ramp plate from? Seems like they are discontinued
Re: 1987 Honda Elite 50
One way is to post a "wanted" ad here in the proper section. You could also scour Ebay but there hasn't been any on there in awhile. Best way is to save a few more pennies than the old stock ones will cost you and buy aftermarket items. More bang for your buck too. This is one Ive been staring at for a few weeks....

Usually if I stare at something long enough it ends up in my mailbox..

Remember to always get drunk before shopping online. You'll usually end up with all kinds of cool stuff shipped to your door.

I've got a ramp plate you can use. The clutch will give you better take off and engagement points, depending on how it's setup. Usually you can just swap the clutch springs out on the oem clutch w stiffer aftermarket versions, and it's basically like revving up higher before you drop the clutch. Higher engagement rpm, which usually means it'll be closer to its power band and be a Lil quicker.
