Do you know the exact length? My memory wants me to say it is going to be too short. I believe aroud 270mm is stockish on the aero - unsure.boojadean wrote:Does anyone know will an aftermarket rear shock from a Ruckus work on an '85 Aero? I found one cheap and was just wondering.

So the one from the Ruckus would be too short you think, or too long? I see guys on here put Ruckus ones on Sprees, but not sure about an Aero.mr pibbs wrote:Do you know the exact length? Re: Ruckus rear shock on Aero.
I ended up buying a OKO nitrogen filled shock.
If I can give one word of advise for a replacement shock it would be this.
Buy one with the smallest diameter spring. The wider the spring the smaller the rear tire will have to be.
I can only fit a 3.0x 10 rear tire because the OKO spring is so wide.

I'd rather be riding my Aero!
Re: Ruckus rear shock on Aero.
I was going to go with a 90/90 tire on mine. Those aren't wider than a 3.00 are they? Thanks for all the help guys!!!!novs86 wrote:I ended up buying a OKO nitrogen filled shock.

Greetings:
90mm divided by 25.4mm/inch = 3.54" wide, which is just about a quarter-inch less clearance on each side than a 3.00 tire. 90/90s are a little shorter than they are wide, at about 3.18" tall, and considerably stiffer than the round profile 3.00 and 3.50s.

Re: Ruckus rear shock on Aero.
Yeah, after I thought about that for a minute I figured it out. Not sure if I should go with this shock, though it doesn't look that big in the spring area. I'd hate to make it so I can't get decent tires on my scoot.Wheelman-111 wrote:Greetings:

Wheelman, I have another question - do you think the jet that came with my Polini bore kit be rich enough if I run a 70:1 fuel mix? Sorry to change the subject.

Re: Ruckus rear shock on Aero.
Went and bought the Ruckus shock last night. Bolted it all together and it looks like it'll have plenty of clearance for when I get my 90/90 tires. It's a Showa Daytona adjustable shock, so the spring only goes about halfway down. It will be nice being able to adjust for conditions! Also happy to get a barely-used $130 shock for $50!!

Sorry Wheelman, only one available. If I run across any more you will be the first to know though! I also got a lead from the guy on an Aero 125 that needs a cylinder & piston, just waiting to hear back from him on that. Not that I really need another project!Wheelman-111 wrote:Greetings:
