Re: True Grits 50cc Fun Run
The 2015 33rd annual True Grits went off without a hitch.
Fall colors were at a peak.
Roads were clear and dry.
Maybe 80 bikes this year, seemed down a little.
I DID ride the Midnight Special and I found that she prefers eating MB5's...that's right, carrying me at 200# plus gear.
Rosarita has climbed to 700+miles now and is doing very well.
I happened up on this Rail-Car excursion in McCaysville, Tn.
Took a minute to check them out and leave a tag..can you spot the tag ?

Re: True Grits 50cc Fun Run
Nice! A rx50 is faster and more competitive than a mb5? Also sweet picture of the mbx! 6 speed fun
Re: True Grits 50cc Fun Run
Yes,...On this day, at least, with this rider, against three different MB5's, I was able to out maneuver them and outclimb the hills. No race though when compared to the NS50's...they won't be beaten by many. Keep in mind the RX50 has the YSR engine... Now that I think about it, the MB5 is 18" rear wheel...and the RX50 is 16" rear wheel. Even more better.1man8scoots wrote: An rx50 is faster and more competitive than a mb5 ????

Greetings:
Funny, an RX50 has recently popped up on some local South Texas Craigslist! Unfortunately the seller's posting suggests some degree of um... unreliability. Plus it says "No Title". Sadly, "No Thanks." I wonder if the ol' YZ still has some 72cc kits available?

Re: True Grits 50cc Fun Run
Working on one of my 2016 Grits entries this week.. I took the MB5 to the Honda Powersports dealer 20 miles away in Homosassa this morning to pick up scooter parts.. That was the first trip from my house to the Honda dealer by 50 CC power! Speed limits along the two lane highway there are 55 MPH and all my scooters are too slow for the trip. The MB5 can hold 50 mph the whole way in fifth up slight hills and on the level, and 55 mph on a slight downhill. Have finished cherrying up the MB5 and now I am testing the oil flow rate from the oil injector while running double oil.. am running mixed oil/gas in the fuel tank and also running the stock oil injector with the oil tank full of GN2... so far, it is looking pretty good.

Re: True Grits 50cc Fun Run
Also, I just remembered that the factory original MB5 workshop manual (not a reprint) that I bought on Ebay also came with a factory original 1974 Honda QA50 workshop manual. If anyone on this forum has a 1974 Honda QA50 and wants a free original workshop manual with free shipping, please PM me and I'll get it right out to you..

Re: True Grits 50cc Fun Run
Greetings:
Double oil? Aside from what must've been a trailing cloud of blue smoke seen from the International Space Station, your MB is at risk. The oil displaces fuel, making it run leaner than it should, perhaps even hot. Also the oil ash will accumulate very quickly in the head and exhaust as carbon. If you stay at 50cc, there's really no need to double oil, and lots of reasons not to. YMMV

Re: True Grits 50cc Fun Run
Wheelman, I hear you.. Double oil is just temporary until I verify the oil injector flow.. actually no smoke at all, and the temp gauge looks fine.. just doing it for one two gallon tank of fuel. After the first gallon, the drop in level in the oil tank is about what the workshop manual says it should be..
