1983 Aero 50 performance parts?
I came across an 83 aero in great shape with a title and running well for $250 and can't pass it up. Is there any hop ups that will help it hit 40mph? Is there a variator out there to replace the stock one?
Is $250 a good price for this scoot in good working order and complete with a title?

Yes, try http://scooterswapshop.com/collections/aero And yes, that's a very reasonable price.

Thanks for the quick response. My main concern is that this isn't the version that has the same drivetrain as the elites... will the same variator work that I just put on my SA50 swapped spree in the Aero? I will reach out to Brandon over at SSS and see what he says.

Read this in its entirety. Looks like Aero didn't switch to a 4-bolt intake until 86'. Might wanna pass on the 83' unless you plan on keeping it stock. Or if its in nice shape w/title, Itd be a decent candidate for a motor swap if mounts are somewhat similar.
Ive never messed with Aero's so my opinion does not stem from experience and is just that...an opinion.

Re: 1983 Aero 50 performance parts?
Good catch. I was checking out the parts fiche, and the intake ALMOST looks like the same one from an SB50, but has a 4 bolt.. at least that's what it is showing for the 83 model year, so I am assuming that must be wrong. Either that, or motorscooterguide.com is wrong.
But still, even if the fiche is correct, the intake and reeds are exclusive only to the 83-84 model year.

Greetings:
The AB07(?) engine adorning the '83-'84 Aeros is a COMPLETELY different animal from the AF05E that appeared in the U. S. and A. in 1985. Everything from the crank on back is different, belt widths and pulleys and everything else, from READING. There is therefor virtually no aftermarket engine/transmission go-slightly-faster parts for them. Still, the early Aeros were nicely styled in that Vintage design, and definitely worth considering.

Re: 1983 Aero 50 performance parts?
Thanks everyone! I'm thinking for the price if nothing else it's good to get my son on a scooter so I have someone to ride with. It should keep up with my SA50 swapped spree since he weighs about 70lbs less than I do hopefully it will do 35 and maybe I can do SOMETHING to get it close to 40.
Re: 1983 Aero 50 performance parts?
By the time you drop $250 to buy it...then scour the corners of the Earth looking for ways to get it faster, you could've just waited for something better to come along. Not trying to knock anyone who has one but from what I read there isn't much (if any) aftermarket support for it. Just too many other better options out there for $200-ish more.

Greetings:
I think if the price stays at $250 and it runs it's still a very good buy. Just in stock running form it should go at least 35, and it's arguably a nicer design than the '85 and later Aeros.
If you clean it up and get it looking good you can flip it for more in the spring for sure.

Yup buy it and learn on it. Any scooter is fun if you get into it, you don't have to buy stuff for it to have fun.
