What year Spree is mine?
I can't find the post that stated the characters on the VIN that depict the year.
I have two sprees. One I thought was an 85. Has the front turn indicators built into the front panel and has a kickstart. Can't find any images of that one.
Second I thought was a 87 but only has electric starter that is mounted under the seat on the right panel. No kickstart. I read they added kickstart in 86 so have no idea.

Did you check the VIN sticker on the frame tube behind the front wheel? Has year on it. Also, heres the link with VIN info: http://hondaspree.net/wiki/index.php5/S ... VIN_Number

One way to tell (unless the plastics have been changed or the decals are missing), is to look at the side graphics. Each year has a specific design.
1984:
1985:
1986:
1987: (notice the 2 tone color in the lettering which differs from the 86)

I'll look. Was just looking at the VIN plates under the footboards.Meatball wrote: ↑Sun Jan 12, 2020 12:00 am Did you check the VIN sticker on the frame tube behind the front wheel? Has year on it. Also, heres the link with VIN info: http://hondaspree.net/wiki/index.php5/S ... VIN_Number

Re: What year Spree is mine?
Just a follow up. I have a red 85 and a black 86.
The black one has the front turn signals built I to the panels. Is that a mod or original as I cant find any like that.

The 84’ 85’ and 86’ all had the same body panels. With some changes being in sticker decals, speedo, etc. However, the front turn signals were all the same. See below.

The 87’ is when the panel change happened. This year had the front signals mounted to the front tray (glovebox). See below.
Its possible you have an 86’ frame with 87’ panels on it. If your front signals are different than these two styles, they are custom and not OEM. The original ones couldve been broken, lost, damaged and theres hundreds of aftermarket replacement signal kits that can be slapped on there. I've seen them mounted up by the grips, on the wheel fender, holes cut into the knee shield...pretty much anywhere you can imagine.

Check out the panels. The little bulbs are the indicators. Definitely a mod but I haven't seen that type of panel.
